#FightBack

I'm going to put a link to a petition in the comments of this chapter.  Assuming you don't want to just blindly sign a petition that some girl on the Internet told you to, continue reading.

By this point, most of you have heard of WCPW.  They are a wrestling promotion that runs mostly on YouTube (and WhatCulture Extra, if the show isn't free).

And, maybe, some of you know about this advertising catastrophe happening on YouTube right now. (If you don't, let me know, and I'll try to bring you up to speed) YouTube has begun deciding what is and isn't "advertiser-friendly" and, apparently, wrestling is not, and most videos of it on YouTube are demonetized (meaning that whoever uploaded it cannot make any money off of it).

The money WCPW uses comes from the money they make off their videos, and if they aren't making money, it's going to be really hard to upload new content, schedule shows, book wrestlers, etc.  They've had to cancel their Loaded shows (they were weekly episodes uploaded for free on their channel) because of this.  It looks like they're going to be replacing these shows with iPPVs (correct me if I'm wrong).  The video below comes from the first one they've done since this whole thing, Fight Back.

YouTube is essentially putting wrestling in the same category as hate speech, just by deeming them both not advertiser-friendly.

And if you don't watch/know anything about WCPW, I'm sure there's some wrestling promotion you like that's being affected by this.

Some companies upload entire matches on their channels for fans to watch.  WWE uploads videos nearly every day, from Raw & SD segments, to behind the scenes stuff, to full matches.  They are being affected by this as well.

And yeah, you could argue that WWE already has enough money.  What does it matter if they don't make more?  Based on the number of videos they upload throughout the week, they probably make quite a bit of money.  This money goes toward making the product better, booking arenas to perform in every night, and paying your favorite wrestlers.

I'm all for YouTube demonetizing videos that promote hate speech.  But wrestling doesn't promote hate speech.  As Adam Blampied (or Plumpy idk) said in the video above, wrestling brings people together.  Wrestling is important to so many people.  Not just the wrestlers themselves, but the fans as well.  A lot of the people in that video at Fight Back have probably never met, but they are all in that building together because they love wrestling.  They love the same thing, and they are sharing in the love with other fans.

Which leads me to the petition I was talking about.

The petition was not made by WCPW or WhatCulture, but they are promoting it.  The petition is asking YouTube to stop demonetizing videos about wrestling, to give them their ads back.  This won't only help WCPW and WWE; it will help all wrestling promotions with a presence on YouTube.  Support wrestling by signing the petition (it's in the comments).

It currently has 45k+ signatures.  It needs 50k.  Your voice matters.  Your support is important.

Fight back.
