English Project
I spent at LEAST a solid eight hours working on a two page long 25 point project over the past two days...
First of all, I wish I could go back in time two days and hit myself over the head with a baseball bat. Like why the hell did I spend so much time on something so irrelevant when I had two major tests this week (neither of which I studied for)??? Get your priorities straight Rachana wtf
But anyway I figured that since I spent so much time on it I might as well post it here? It's basically a Canterbury Tales style description of a person in the 21st century. We were assigned occupations to write about so mine is about a research assistant/intern, though we did decide in groups on topics we wanted to focus on, so my description does revolve around that.
And because it had to be in the same style as the original book I had to write it in fucking rhyming iambic pentameter, which is why it took so long. Now I just wanna know how the fuck people like Shakespeare wrote dozens of books and plays and shit in iambic pentameter because jesus christ it's SO HARD. We only had to write 24-30 lines and I swear to god it was one of the most difficult things I've ever written. But that's probably why it turned out so shitty lol
Anyway my group's central topic was mental illnesses and disorders so here's mine--
There was a young research assistant too,
To leave her lab was odd for her to do.
She did not ever go out with her friends
And not one party did she dare attend
For she could not stand places full of crowds
That had too many people and loud sounds
Which overwhelmed her, pounding in her ears
And oftentimes reducing her to tears.
So hard at work she always could be found
Where other people rarely were around.
She took some comfort in a fixed routine,
The smallest change would make her want to scream
And so it was not easy to adapt.
Her stubbornness would often leave her trapped.
If, with her boss, she must communicate
Her thoughts, she struggled to articulate.
She also did not have any perception
Of body language and facial expression.
She always had her earbuds in her ears
To block out noise she did not want to hear.
Inside her pocket she would keep one hand
To fidget with a little rubber band
Whose texture could bring comfort to her mind--
Her workplace was too much for her at times.
And often her expression was detached
Unfocused eyes and distant thoughts to match.
A mostly ordinary girl she seemed
A quirky introvert who did daydream
Although she never recognized her quirks
She differed from the others at her work.
I wonder if it was clear what disorder I was talking about though? I really hope it was or my grade is definitely dropping on this assignment lmao
And on a separate note, two different kids in my class who were in different groups and had no collaboration with each other somehow both managed to write about their characters secretly being drug dealers? Like wtf are you guys doing
And one girl in my group wrote about a writer whose wife was murdered while pregnant with her first child, and the writer went kinda mad and murdered the murderer? And then essentially became a serial killer because he got this euphoric feeling when he killed people????? And then wrote journal articles about the murders he committed??????????? I'm seriously questioning what goes through her mind right now like girl are you sure you're mentally stable
Anyway idek where I'm going with this chapter at this point...
I'm just waiting for tomorrow to be over so I can come back home and sleep for four days straight. And now I should probably go do my homework lol so I'll just like leave I guess
*awkwardly exits*
