Cultural Appropiation

People need to understand the difference between wearing the clothes and appropriating the clothes. The fact that wearing a common culture is either disrespectful or you're trying to be them is honestly disgusting.

In Japan no one gets pissed at foreigners for wearing a Kimono. It's not a bad thing, they literally encourage you to wear them! Why's it such a big deal, they can come to America and wear their clothes and eat their food. No one bats an eyes, but when it's a somewhat different styled look it's not okay?

The only people offended are the foreigners themselves, you wear pants everyday. But did you know pants originated from Japan? So it's okay to wear pants but not any other clothing? Doesn't that sound a bit wrong.

Not to mention -I've stated this a while ago- about a year or so, I had went to a store where they sold all these Indian foods - don't come at me because my auntie, who's Indian, calls it this herself- and in the back they did make up, hair, eyebrows, waxing, etc.

So my aunt took me there to get my henna, yes she encouraged me to get it. The ladies doing it had no issue doing it. Were smiling as they did it, asking questions like, "How's your day" and "what's your name?" Anyway, so we got it and walked out.

No one cared, they said it was beautiful and to just not wash my hand too many times.

The ONLY THING my aunt didn't like about hennas people did were they Americanized them. She said that hennas are to be flowers and swirls and not dolphins and birds. She has no problem with people outside her cultural getting these things, she takes it as a compliment. But it's when they change it up when she's annoyed.

Wearing clothes outside of your culture is not being racist or disrespectful, changing and/or sexualizing it is.

Cutting a Kimono to make it a very short dress is when they gets upset, white peoples wearing dreadlocks. Okay so what, black people straighten their hair but no one calls them out.

I don't think you realize this is segregation all over again.

Little fact, 'Kimono' literally means "Thing to wear", so it's just a thing they wear okay cool.

So why're foreigners making it such a big deal when it's really not?

Wearing a culture's clothing is not cultural appropriation. So please think before spewing bullshit!
