Istg why do people constantly say whenever they're moving on from fanfiction they're going to write an 'actual book'
Is fanfiction not considered actual effort?

It takes a lot of work to write some fanfics, especially in certain fandoms where there is technically no cannon (countryhumans, planethumans etc)
Like there are three fanfics that live in my mind rent free that I would say deserve actual golden medals (the ruler and the hunter, where winter meets summer, the runaway au) like actually real effort gos into all this stuff and I'm really angered it seems like people don't consider the work put into it.

An argument I've seen is that it's unoriginal and useless, and not being creative... how do you think it's not being creative? People can create whole fucking storylines and arcs completely originally that just happen to take place in this universe that already exists.
And also under that argument technically by that logic adaptations aren't 'valid' since adaptations are basically just stories from another person which have been slightly tweaked.
BY THIS LOGIC HALF OF THE MOVIES DISNEY HAS EVER MADE ARE INVALID.

So yeah, I'd say fanfiction is real and valid and they should be considered 'actual books' since there is actually some originality in some of them and it can be very interesting.
