A little thing
This is mostly for the Undertale fandom.
One little thing that bugs me is gender bending characters.
Now now! Put down the pitchforks! Let me explain.
I don't mean an AU that's fully gender bent. That's perfectly fine and fun!
What leaves a bad taste in my mouth is gender bending one or all the male sub characters.
Now the human universe that has some as girls sometimes I can tolerate to a degree.
But doing it to one character for the sole purpose of making a gay ship straight, or because the author wanted to, or because 'they are bottoms so they should be girls!' It just... feels wrong.
Like I recently half read a story about how Ink and other 'sub' Sans are female. No one else was gender bent.
It just felt so forced for straightness.
Like only the girls were shipped with boys.
Those ships were originally gay.
I'm sorry if you've done this and aren't but it feels homophobic.
Like only changing one character so a gay ship can be straight... it feels wrong. Forced.
Same as a straight ship being turned gay.
But for our fandom it's mostly gay to straight.
Now one character being changed feels wrong to. Especially without a backstory.
Now as story I read not to long ago with Error being a secret girl is perfectly 'okay'. There's a backstory! Foreground on why a dude character is a girl in a story.
But stories were Ink is suddenly a girl and it gives no reason on why besides the author wanting to is a bit uncomfortable. Especially if they're portrayed as a stereotypical female. Over emotional and abused.
I don't know. What do you guys think?
