MARCH 8TH HAS PASSED BUT MY FEELS HAVE NOT.

Disclaimer: This rant is in no way directed at any guy who knows a woman's worth. I love you. I respect men and ALL genders for that matter, and I am no man-hater. I recognise your value and your importance... I'm just asking you to do the same for us.

Happy Women's Day.

Although, lemme ask you, what even is that? Like one day for women and the rest of it for men? Is that it?

But it's not just man and woman. Although people still don't get that.

There are third genders and fourth and fifth ones and many many other things I know nothing about but my question is―

Why can't we all just be people first?

Instead of being so divided and compartmentalised because of our freaking genitals, why can't we just come together as people? People with dreams and aspirations and goals that shouldn't be curshed just because your ding dong is a cave and not a sausage, or because it's a sausage and not a cave.

Why can't we just rise above gender and be humans first? Everyone that's born has a right to live! Why should we be put in tiny pre-discerned boxes that limit who we are, what we can be?

Honestly, I don't understand.

Every time someone tells me, ' you're a girl, you shouldn't be doing this ' or ' you're a girl, you should be doing THIS instead of that ' I honestly get so so upset. Mostly just mad. And where I come from, India, our neighbours decide our lives for us most of the time.

I want to be myself, because given the freedom to do so, I know I'm gonna get places, and it's true for every other person out there! But god forbid I have too many guy friends or can't cook or absolutely hate housework.

I don't think you understand the importance, how can I get married if I don't know how to cook and clean and make round rotis omg.

-___-

I'll tell you how. The dude can just get his ass up and do his own share of the housework. Or I can just not get married and focus on my job. Or I can be a stay at home mom. Or I can balance both.

Bottom line: I can do whatever the duck I want.

We are a nation of homophobic, just progress-phobic people who cannot and will not change, even if change is the only way to a better future.

Because #logkyakahenge.

And I'm sick of it, but I've gotta keep myself in check until I'm standing on my own feet, because otherwise, my folks will have to bear the consequences and they'd rather not have that so I'd rather not have that. They give me food. 😔

They say, "You're a girl!"

And I want to scream back, "I AM A PERSON."

Gender is important, I'm not saying it isn't. It gives you a sense of identity and it does empower you but it also limits you in the same breath. What we need to understand is that every gender is equally important, no one should be belittled or suppressed because of the anatomy they were born with or, in a more cultural sense, what gender they choose to be: man, woman, androgynous....whatever it is. It shouldn't limit them, it should empower them.

And we can do that by supporting others, not bringing them down, not trying to shove them into a corner. Because:

As for women, we're termed the weaker sex because we have a uterus.

I'm sorry but do you know what the uterus is for? We can freaking push a tiny human out of our bodies okay? It is true that men's participation is required for the lead up to new-human-formation, but  trust me when I say that men get the better end of the deal.

Seriously, duck duck sssss and they're done.

They helped create a new life, but we nurture it, carry around a life sized human inside us for freaking mine months and ten days and go through so much pain.

Even when we're not pregnant, don't even get me started on period cramps.

What I'm trying to say is, if you can see what we do, how much we do, shouldn't you be worshipping us, help make our lives better instead of trying to opress the shit out of one whole half of society?
Or if that's asking for too much, atleast let is live our lives in peace?

No? Really? I'd like to see you push a baby out of your insides then.

Can't do that either?

Shame.

But, even though I sound hopeless and negative, I'm not, because I have faith in my generation. Many of the guys today are absolutely amazing, because they know and they're better and it makes me so proud to belong to such a generation. I love you guys.

I believe our generation is different. Compassionate. Humane. We are accepting and open and definitely going to make a difference, world wide. I can feel it. Obama said it. It's gonna happen.

And it'll be a bomb when it does.
