Hi Anon! If we're talking about the statement "Mashima confirmed that Natsu and Lucy are going to have a girl named Nashi in his interview", then no, it's not true.

To quote the :

RP2: Queríamos saber, en el hipotético caso de que Natsu y Lucy acabasen juntos ¿ha pensado alguna vez el nombre para sus hijos?

HM:No se que decir, no lo había pensado (risas). Pero sin duda sería Nashi (nada).

This has been translated as:

RP2: We'd like to know, in the hypothetical case in which Natsu and Lucy ended together, have you thought any time of the names for their children?

HM: I don't know what to say, I have never thought about it (laughter). But, without a doubt, it would be Nashi (nothing).

(Can someone fluent in Spanish please correct me if this translation is wrong?)

1. Look at the way the question is phrased. The interviewer was asking about a hypothetical situation. If Natsu and Lucy ended up together and had a kid. Mashima-sensei's answer is given based on this hypothetical scenario.

2. If the questioned being asked was "Will Natsu and Lucy get together and have a kid?" then it would be totally different.

3. The original interview in Spanish mentions "Nashi (nada)". For some reason, the "nada" part isn't translated in many of the English versions. The "nada" seems to suggest that the interpreter felt that the "nashi" mentioned by Mashima-sensei could mean "nothing".

4. Mashima-sensei has never openly revealed his plans for the manga. Sure, he has given the occasional hint, but these are very general ones such as "someone we haven't seen a long time will appear soon" or "the theme of this arc is such-and-such". He has never given any specific details on future events that he has planned. So why would he ever say that Natsu and Lucy would have a child, much less the child's name?

I wish there was a way to read or listen to the answer Mashima-sensei gave in Japanese, but no matter what, the question is asking about a hypothetical scenario, and Mashima-sensei did say that he had never thought about potential children at the time of the interview.

There is no confirmation that Natsu and Lucy will have a child named Nashi.

Some people are just trying to interpret things the way they like and pass it off as facts. If Mashima-sensei has plans for Natsu and Lucy to get together and have children then it'll happen eventually. Why not just wait and see how things end?
