OKAY! THIS is the FINAL conclusion--Hiro DID say that in an interview and posted it on twitter. THIS IS FINAL! AND CONFIRMED THAT natsu really is in love with luce but is afraid to admit because he doesnt know if he feels the same. 

And Lucy definitely loves Natsu more than a friend (she was actually monologuing in the manga; "if it wasnt for fairytail, i wouldve nevermet him.." - am pretty sure she was talking about Natsu.)
