Better read this if you think Lucy is weak because this makes sooo much sense!

You guys do realize that, in principle, Lucy's magic is pretty much the same as Erza's?

Erza is pulling swords and armor, completely inanimate objects, mind you, from her room back at Fairy Hills. She's pretty much ripping open a hole from point A to point B that her weapon travels from.

Now, Lucy, Lucy, is pulling a living, breathing being from a completely separate universe. That has to take more magical energy than what Erza does.

Celestial magic is what Lucy has, and that does not make her weak in any way. She might not be the physically strongest mage, but she has the determination of one (as listed in my previous post). Her magic is her magic, there's no changing that.

Or, darn! The mage can't do anything with their magic AND extra weapon are taken away??? You do realize that A LOT of mages would be able to do absolutely nothing if those things were taken away? Seriously? Grow up.

Bixlow fights using dolls, but I don't hear anyone calling him weak for that.

Lucy's magic is summoning spirits. Those spirits help her fight, like Bickslow's. It is their magic fueling them. End of story.

This fandom can get back to me when it stops being completely hypocritical.  

I am aware that FT has a lot of mages that are physically strong, but with the above scene it can be expected that physically fit mages are in the minority. For a mage, Lucy is actually really durable, with what she gets tossed around throughout the series. Also, having "others fight for you" isn't all fun and games– if she had no talent at all, these celestial beings would not even agree to help her. She's able to befriend them and treat them with respect. I myself find that a really admirable trait, one that the majority of humanity seems to disregard as mundane, unfortunately.

Which brings me to my next point; I'd also like to remind everyone that "strength" isn't just a matter of physical power– she's intelligent, and in the newer chapters she's become really strong mentally, coping with the loss of the guild but not letting go of those important to her. Her sense of moral is strong and she's an important part of the guild. She has common sense and might I remind you; the guild would not have gotten back together (at least not nearly as quickly) if it wasn't for her efforts, her strong feelings towards her comrades. Erza is physically strong and a wonderful character, but you don't see her making such an effort. But that's rude of me to point out, I wonder why? Oh right, 'cause they're different characters with different good and bad points.Comparing characters in general is just immature whining. Nobody is perfect, not even fictional characters, so just grow up and accept it already.

TL;DR; Don't call Lucy weak just because she's "there just for fanservice" or because she needs help to fight. She's a realistic character with realistic faults– this coming from a person who has studied psychology for over 4 years. And guess what else?

Even if she was the fragile people make her out to be; even if she was completely helpless without her keys; calling her "weak" and "useless" is just dismissing her as another brainless fighter. Lucy's character is the exact opposite of such.
