Ok ok this is a topic that everyone is on about and Oc Mary Sues, in this case for my little pony. Right well I don't know hoe to start this there'd just so much to cover.

So here's How to not make a Mary Sue

Definition

A Mary sue is a character who is either vastly overpowered, or a character that has no flaws. Basically a perfect character in every way.

Ok next is the name the

I hate it when people just give their oc a random name that has nothing to do with their personality or looks or cutie mark. Look at my oc for example her name is rainbow heart and hers her cutie mark

Next let's talk about Looks

The looks of a Mary Sue oc are usually put as Rainbow maned with a black or white coat or any really.

Here's a big problem with Rainbow Ocs

Think if someone with epilepsy as this, it could make them have an episode that made them need to go to hospital. I'm not joking this happens.

Next up is Type

People say that having an alicorn oc makes it a Mary Sue, well no not if you do it right by that I mean. Don't make them a full amazing princess just that makes it a Mary Sue

My oc became an alicorn but she's a terrible princess she doesn't know how to act like a princess at all.

Going back to type they don't have to be an alicorn to be a Mary Sue they can be a Pegasus or unicorn or even earth pony

Ok next up is gender

This is doesn't really make it a Mary Sue but it with way, if your a girl have a girl oc and if your a boy make a boy oc if your transgender do what you think is right for you.

Next up flaws

Your oc has to have flaws or then yep Mary Sue every oc needs flaws EVERY! I can say a lot more about this but I'll keep it short.

Next up family

Don't make your oc be the child of a show character and an oc just be the child of to ocs simple as that. Do not make them be an alicorn just because their parents are a unicorn and a Pegasus. Sibling of a show character? No just no, font do that.

Backstory

You have to be very carful of how you make your oc's backstory

Here's my ocs for an example

I was born with no sexuality that I went crazy over anyone. When I was a filly I began to look sexy. So sexy that my parents disowned me and sent me to a "Residential" but I knew what she meant.

Of course I didn't want to go

Years past and I was always getting bullied and no one 2anted to adopt me, I was alone

"Haha you have no sexuality your so broken" they would say. I got sick of it and ran away to ponyville

Not really anyway to make this a Mary Sue oc well not that I know of.
