My main problem with fanfiction is how the characters go out of character. I don't know if you get what I mean, but sometimes the personalities of some of the characters are just foreign, and out of place.

For example, I'm going to use Attack on Titan. I recently came across one Eren x Levi fanfiction, and I almost.....barfed? It was like so cringy, and just idk, not real. Truthfully, I find the ship weird and just wow. The only natural ship to me is Armin x Jean (idk I think they fit) but that's my opinion.

Back to the main topic, I think fanfiction writers should take care in portraying characters properly while sending their message to the readers.

I usually have bad experiences with fanfictions, so I don't even read them. It may be because I'm a picky reader, but it just annoys me when I see my favorite character/characters acting unlike themselves.

Like I read this Haikyuu fanfiction, Kageyama x Hinata (Kagehina). I definitely love this ship, it is one of the most natural occurring ship in Haikyuu, and I was really looking forward to it, so I was a lot disappointed.

Funny part was, this book got tons of reads and I'm like how? The fact that Kageyama and Hinata were portrayed like Western characters repeatedly saying words like 'Fuck, Shit, Asshole' instead of 'boke! baka!' and idk the way it felt was just foreign...strange...and not nice.

I think some people also noticed and they confronted the writer about it, and then she made this author's note saying that even though they feel 'out of character', she was still gonna keep on writing it. And personally I think there's nothing wrong with that though, everybody's just tryna do the best they can on this app so I didn't want to fuel the flames by adding my own opinion, I just dropped the book quietly.

But there was also a Kagehina fanfiction I read that was nice. I loved it, can't remember the name tho. Hinata is a ball of sunshine and Kageyama is an awkward goofball; both of them loving volleyball more than anything, and that's how they were in the story. It was so nice, my head kept going: 'adfvhnkddhadtyhhk this is so cute!' 😂😂

I really respect the writer, and I think others should learn from that. Even though, you want to write a whole new story with a new theme from already existing characters, make it real, don't make them lose their importance or personalities that were originally in the show or the way people know them as.

Imagine writing an Haikyuu fanfiction and Tsukishima is nice and respectful, like hell no! 😂😂 Tsukki would always be that mean, sarcastic salty guy everyone loves. Or he doesn't say 'Shut up, Yamaguchi' throughout the story, that's so unreal.

In simple words, let the characters keep their character. I hope I made my point clear.

Also, people who can't relate to any of the examples made, I'm sorry. As I said, I don't read fanfiction, I only read those because I was curious and they're like my favorite (anime) shows.

If I offended any fanfiction lover or writer, I apologize, but keep my advice in mind.

That's all ♥
