Queen - The Game

The classic 1980 album, The Game, is one of my favorite 80s album from them. I didn't listen to all of the songs again, only the ones I haven't heard or needed to hear again. Suggested by RocknrollLife80 !

--------

10- Coming Soon. More classic rock sounding with the beat and almost Chuck Berry style guitar. Sounds like a Roger Taylor song? Even though I don't know if it is. A hint of the 80s sound. I don't love the title.

9. Rock It (Prime Jive). I really like the slower intro. Then, it kicks into actual rock. It sounds like they tried to specifically make it rock and roll. Not one I love, since it's pretty simple. Longer than I'd like it for how simple it is. I relate with the first line.

8. Sail Away Sweet Sister. I'm not a big fan of it, it starts off minor, which reminds me of The Show Must Go On. Guitar on this one is good, even if it's basic. I know I sound biased about the guitar, but I'm not. It shows you don't need something to write about it (a sister, in this case.)

7- Don't Try Suicide. Kind of jazzy, like something you'd snap your fingers to. It's pretty catchy, but it's such a serious topic that it's a little odd sounding to be a rock song. Freddie's vocal talent in this is shown off well.

6- Need Your Loving Tonight. Sounds more poppy, more repetitive sounding. Like the drums. But repetitive songs seem to get played on the radio more, so it's more radio-friendly in that case. Great guitar solo! I like Freddie's voice on the line "I'll eat my heart out, 'cos I love, love, love, love her!"

4- Play The Game. More of a ballad, which I like. It even has a decent bridge, (my game of love has just begun), and it's slower. Maybe not in everyone's top list. Depends on what you like.

3- Dragon Attack. This one and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" are almost interchangeable for me, but I like this one a bit more. It's funky, I love playing it on guitar or bass. Vocals are great. You know, it's disco.

2- Crazy Little Thing Called Love. Good and catchy, despite being written in the bathtub in 10 minutes. (And it only has 8 chords!) In Brian's words, "Freddie's tribute to Elvis." I like it a lot, very 50s. Even "Man On The Prowl" is rockabilly and this is different, so they didn't repeat themselves.

1- Another One Bites The Dust. Freddie really goes at it for the vocals, you can hear it in his voice. It's also kind of disco sounding, and I like disco too. But it is one everyone knows. John liked writing stories with his songs, creating characters from different emotions. "Out of the doorway, bullets rip! To the sound of the beat" is very interesting when you think about how to 'bite the dust' is a cowboy term for death.
