Chapter Four: It's Just Infatuation
"Your sure?"
"Come on Jake. Even you know that's not true."
"Then what about the $20 I got every time a tooth came out of my mouth when I was five?"
"Parents."
"But what about the time I called you and my dad was at work?"
"Your mom."
"My mom was asleep."
"Don't you have an older cousin?"
"So?"
"Wasn't she staying with you that weekend?"
"..."
"Yup."
"Aww man!"
Noah had chuckled.
"And even if the tooth fairy existed, you wouldn't see it. You'd be sleep." Emma added.
"And why would you need one anyway? That's why people get jobs." Gia stated.
"Yeah, but sometimes I just wanna get a sandwich and I haven't figured out what I wanna do. And Wawa is just five minutes away." Jake partially whined.
His blonde companion playfully shoved him in the arm. The green ranger laughed as his feet slid across the floor. While turning a corner in the school hallway, a person was standing by the lockers. She was reading the book known as How To Kill A Mocking Bird. Halfway through the book, she looked up. She saw several students pass by her. A few hoots and hollers were being made by some male seniors. The girl glanced at who they were referring to. And she was glad that for once, it wasn't her.
"Hey! Keep movin buddy!" Jake shouted.
Gia rolled her eyes.
"Bro, chill out." Troy stated.
"Look, I waited so long for this. All these guys trying to mack on my girl ain't gonna cut it." Jake defended.
Gia crossed her arms as the jokester wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
"Your girl?" She asked.
"Yeah. Your my girl. Your Jake's girl now." The teen confirmed proudly.
Gia blinked at him as the others laughed.
"I can't believe this actually happened." Noah commented.
Jake shrugged.
"Hey, what's right is right." He replied.
"Even in the weirdest way possible." Emma added.
"Hey! I got who I wanted just by me being me. And you guys can't-"
The ranger was cut off by a hand. It was Troy's. It kind of stopped everybody's tracks. His gaze was out in front as the others were curious.
"What?" Jake asked.
Since a response was not given, his eyes followed his friend's. He saw a beautiful young lady reading a book. She had brushed her hair to her right side. Jake began to smirk a bit as he glanced between Troy and the female.
"Hey, isn't she-"
"Extremely beautiful." The red ranger answered, not even realizing the words that had came out of his mouth.
The girl had a small smile plaster on her face.
"You know her?" Gia questioned her friend.
Troy nodded, not letting his attention on her fade.
"I met her in the mall yesterday." He responded.
Gia nodded.
"How do you know where she works?" Noah wondered.
"I found out about her on a website. After a huge rescue in Brazil, her family's company popped up online and in the newspapers." Emma explained.
Noah was surely impressed by this. Jake was busy letting certain jokes cross his mind. The gaze his pal on the girl was absolutely tease worthy and adorable. He didn't look desperate, as the green ranger would with Gia. Instead, if she had looked up, the spark of lust in his eyes were present. The young lady stood up when she saw another teenager join her. That's when Troy checked the time. 11:24pm.
"Come on. Your lucky I had the patience to wait for you." The girl said.
"Well if you want, you can tell my English teacher to not hold me back for something I didn't do." Her companion replied.
The female held the book close to her as she and her little buddy passed the bathroom. Letting her go in front, the redhead stopped. She turned her head slightly. It stayed there for a few seconds. The young lady let her small smile grow a bit bigger as she went to catch up with her sister.
The red ranger dropped his focus on her. It was later revealed to him that Jake and Noah were sharing a smirk. Emma was beaming a bit with joy. As for Gia, she was crossed between a smile and a face full of curiosity. The leader sighed as him and his friends headed into their classroom. They were all seated by the time the teacher had came in.
"My buddy's got a crush." Jake teased.
Troy, who was sitting across from Gia, looked up.
"No I don't." He argued.
"Oh yeah right! Cause you stand in the middle of the hallway to look at a wall. That makes a lot more sense." Jake responded.
Troy gave him a look as he took his books out.
"Well I mean, you were looking at her for a while." Emma added.
Jake pointed to her, indicating pure evidence.
"And, you've never really looked at anyone like that before." Noah contributed.
Jake nodded, loving the fact the he knew he was right.
"Uh huh! Exactly! Don't tell me your not at least a little bit interested." Jake told him proudly.
Troy rolled his eyes. Gia, who was sitting behind Noah to the left of the room, leaned back.
"Come on Jake. Leave him alone." She cut in.
"Thank you." Troy had said after that.
"You can't help who your attracted to." The yellow ranger quickly threw in.
"Aha!" Jake laughed.
Emma and Noah joined in on that. Troy shook his head as he crossed his arms. Gia smirked. Jake, who was sitting behind the red ranger, waited for his response. Emma was next to Noah. Troy looked at each and every one of them as he sighed.
"I hate you." He told Jake.
The green ranger only laughed again as the bell rung.
