Chapter 5

Why Do We Fall- Motivational Video

Picture is Lily's Ranger Horse.

As I woke up, I noticed that the cabin was quite. Now that's odd, I thought. I quickly threw on some lose-fitting clothes, and rushed to the kitchen. No one was there. I noticed the coffe pot was dirty. Didn't I clean that yesterday? No. Will did.

But now it's dirty again. And Will's not even up yet. So Halt must be up. But where is he? I looked through the window by the door, and guess who I saw? Halt? Ding, ding, ding, Correct! Wow, your good at this. I walked out the front door, hating how it gave away my presence to Halt, and could've, just maybe, woken Will up.

Halt looked up from his work. Which wasn't much, just putting a saddle on his horse, Abelard. "Well, look who showed up," Halt said. "I thought I would have to dump cold water on you. How'd you know I was here?"

"I looked out the window?" I said.

Halt raised his signature eyebrow, the one that he always uses when he is most likely about to ask a question. And sure enough, I was right. "Is that a question Lily?"

"What? That I looked out the window? No...." Halt looked at me. "Yes.....?" Halt raised his other eyebrow-I need to learn how to do that eyebrow thing, makes you look professional.

"Why do you kids always answer questions with questions," Halt sighed. "Yes. About the window."

I took a deep breath in, about to answer, "and don't you dare ask me another question," Halt interrupted my soon-to-be answer.

I rolled my eyes. "Ok, fine. I looked through the window and saw you saddling up Abelard. Are we going somewhere?" Halts nostrils flared. Opsies, I asked a question. But it was on accident! Ok?!

"Well what does it look like?" Halt said.

"It looks like your going somewhere. But what about Will and I? Are we coming too?" I asked trying to raise one of my eyebrows.

"Well yes you two are coming with. And don't raise your eyebrow until you know your not going to look like a loop-sided badger."

I let out a unladylike snort and said, "I'm going to go wake up sleeping beauty, and be right out after I eat something. Cause' im hungry." Halt gave me a quick nod, agreeing to what I said.

I walked away about to open the door to the cabin, only to be stopped by a voice, "Are you sick of something? Cause I don't know if that was a very loud sneeze or you farting," the voice's laughter rang around the silent clearing I front of the cabin. Very funny. I thought. And opened the door to the cabin, stomping to Will's room.

I knocked very hard on the wooden door. Soon I herd a mumble coming from the room, "Stop knocking. I'm up. And you sound like there's a bear in here too."

Why is everyone picking on me. That's just plain old rude. "oh shut up Will. If anyone's a bear, its you. Did you just wake up from hibernation? Or were you always that sleepy?"

"Well I'm up now," Will says opening his door, fully dressed head to toeing his ranger cloak, and weapons. I just gave a unladylike snort yet again, and walked outside to a waiting Halt after I ate a apple.

Halt simply raised a eyebrow, "took you two long enough. Come on." Halt mounted up efficiently on Abelard and took off at a walk.

"You expect us to walk?"

Halt turned around on the saddle and said bluntly, "As a matter of fact, yes, I do."

_:_

It probably took 2 hours before I spotted a house. There was a lot of horses walking around in pastures. As Abelard walked by them, they all neighed each other greetings as if they were life-long best friends. Which they probably were.

Clang!

The door to the house slammed shut. A old man walked out, grinning from ear to ear. "Hey Halt! I see you have two apprentices this year. They must be a handful!"

Halt glanced quickly in Will and I's direction and nodded, "they sure are. You want them?"

"Oh. I can't do that. If their a Rangers apprentice, then they would never be cut for this old job!" The old man laughed, his eyes twinkling. "Well I'll show you your horses! I'm assuming that's what your here for right." Horses!

"That is correct Old Bob," Halt said. Halt dismounted Abelard and commanded him to stay. Old Bob walked away, heading to the stable. Halt, Will, and I followed after him. Inside the stable were a few other horses. But in the middle were two horses. They both looked beautiful. Well one looked beautiful, the other would be considered handsome, It'd be rude of me to call a male horse beautiful as if it were a girl.

"Wow..." I murmured. The mare was gorgeous with her tan, black and white coat. She looked like she was built for speed. The stallion although, was equally gorgeous, but in a handsom way. He had a sleek white coat with some gray on his lower body. Both horses obviously were groomed for our arrival. "Which ones mine?" I asked.

Old Bob walked up to the mare, "this one," he said before leading the mare to me. I grabbed the leading rope. Old Bob walked to the stallion and grabbed his leading rope and handed the rope to a very muted Will.

"What's her name?" I asked.

"This un is named Dancer. She always moved gracefully as one and loves to play and show off her moves," Old Bob said to me. He turned to Will and said, "Yours is named Tug. He never ceased to make it difficult to train him tugging away on the reins."

I petted Dancers soft, velvety nose. "Can we ride them?" Will asked.

"Sure," Old Bob said, leading us to what I would assume a coral.
