Poisoned Veins

Water drips and soaks and flows,

Down my mountains and hills it goes.

Flowers bloom and clouds sigh,

As my lifeblood goes flowing by.

No one lives forever,

But every life my water remembers,

New lives breath every day,

A human's life slipping away.

Purified by a unicorn horn,

By my banks heroes are born,

But I do weep and I do cry,

When life in my waters start to die.

My blood browns and thickens,

Sours and quickens,

As they dump their nightmares and fears,

May they taste the bitterness of my tears.

Human waste turns my blood to paste,

Away from my children the waters make haste,

But carry with them all the pain,

Into my veins human wars do drain.

The waters of my blood catch fire,

The situation is most dire,

Only you can help save the wild,

You are so much more than a single child.
