If Sparking had a darker route

Sparking manga, but darker (I tried so bare with me)

Words cannot describe how devastated he was.

He was on top of the world at that time. He thought that he could face any challenge that went his way.

But after that battle with Lane, his confidence was shattered. It was shattered into so many pieces that putting them back together was nigh on impossible.

He lost in front of Honcho, he lost in front of Aiga, he lost in front of the Legends. He lost in front of everyone who had inspired him.

But most humiliating of all, he lost in front of his little brother, who had always looked up to him.

In bed, the memory of Lane pulling his hair and throwing insults at his face played over and over in his head.
Those hurtful words stabbed deep into his heart to the point of tears.

As he cried himself to sleep, Hikaru failed to notice the bright blue glow coming from his bey. Little did he or anyone else knew, this would be the start of many shocking and bizarre events soon to transpire.

🔵🔵🔵

I woke up and found that my brother was already out of bed. Well, he's always out of bed earlier than me but he'd usually try to wake me up afterwards. Even if it annoys me, it's a bit weird that he isn't here. I got up, did the normal morning routine and asked Mom and Dad where he went. They said that he went outside but never told them where. So I got dressed up and started looking for him.

My first instinct was to go to the Bombers gym. When I went there though, Hikaru was nowhere. I asked Honcho if he's seen him but he said that he hasn't seen Hikaru enter or leave the gym.

I spent the entire day asking around about where my brother was but to no avail. When the sun was almost setting, I gave up and decided to go home. I figured that Hikaru would have also gotten home at a time like this. Otherwise, Mom would be angry.

As I was about to reach the door, that was when I saw him, my big brother. I instantly went up to him.

"WHERE WERE YOU THIS ENTIRE TIME?!" I yelled at him, demanding for an answer. "I WAS LOOKING FOR YOU ALL DAY AN-"

He ignored me. Straight up ignored me.

He walked into the restaurant with a blank face, as if I hadn't screamed at him in the face just now.

What happened to my brother?

🔵🔵🔵

It was in the middle of a tournament, and Hikaru had already destroyed two beyblades.

Before this, he was acting really weirdly. He'd do everything that we usually do together all by himself without inviting me, and when I wanted to join him, he'd tell me to leave him alone. He always disappeared from morning till evening, and would always return tired.

I told the other Legends about this, and it looked like Shu and Aiga knew a thing or two about what was going on with him. We didn't act immediately, but we were still cautious about Hikaru's behaviour.

It was only when he broke two beys that the three of us confronted him. He was standing in a hallway with his back turned.

"Hikaru, I saw what you did in the last battle," I said, trying my best to hold back tears. I just couldn't believe that he'd do something like this. "Why? Why did you break those beys?"

He didn't answer us.

"Oi, Hikaru! Answer your brother!" Aiga yelled agitatedly.

"Calm down, Aiga," Shu said before turning to my brother. "Hikaru, care to tell us what happened in that battle? We're not mad at you. We just want to know so that we can help."

It was then that Hikaru spoke.

But,

It didn't sound like him at all.

"Help? Don't me laugh, Shu Kurenai," the person who I thought was my big brother said. He finally turned to us, but something was wrong.

His eyes were turquoise instead of green. And his voice was different. There was also this scary aura coming from him.

The Not-Hikaru spoke again, glaring at us. "You can't even help that stupid student of yours. What makes you think you can help Hikaru?"

Weird. Why was he talking in third person? That was when Shu asked him:

"Helios. What have you done to Hikaru?"

Helios?

The thing disguising as my brother let out a dark chuckle. "You caught on quick, Kurenai. And here I thought the bamboo shoot was going to find me first. Goes to show how less he cares about his own brother."

"WHAT?! No, I care about Hikaru! What are you talking about?!" I yelled at the thing claiming to be Helios.

"Oh, really? Then what did you do after he suffered that devastating loss from that disgusting brat?! That's right, you decided to sleep the night away without consoling him one bit! Do you know how much he cried that night?! I was the only one who cared enough to give him this strength!"

His words. For some reason, I felt a sharp pain in my heart when he said those words. How could I ignore what Hikaru was going through?

"Is that why you possessed your blader? To take revenge on Lane?" Shu asked further.

Helios nodded. "Precisely, and none of you will stop me!"

A large dark blue flare surrounded Hika- no, Helios. It sent a shockwave that forced us to cover our eyes.

That was when I put everything that had happened before together. Hikaru going missing all day and coming home tired was because...

"You...You forced my brother to train over his limits! You're the one causing him fatigue!" I angrily screamed at Helios, tears starting to leak from my eyes. "Why...?! Hikaru trusted you as his partner! Why did you have to do this to him?!"

"You don't understand. I'm doing all of this to make Hikaru stronger! I want to make sure he can win against that monster!"

"You're the monster here!" Aiga argued back. "Do you really think Hikaru would agree to this?! Plus, breaking beys is absolutely unacceptable!"

"That's why I took over this body. He needs to learn the true meaning of strength, that is...to show NO MERCY!"

The dark blue flare grew larger. For a split second, I could see the spirit of Helios behind my brother. He was controlling him like a puppet.

And I was not going to let that slide.

"ENOUGH!" I ran towards Hikaru, ignoring Shu and Aiga who called out to me. But at this point, I didn't really care about my own safety. It doesn't matter if I'm facing up against something powerful. I just want my brother back.

I eventually reached him and gave him the biggest possible hug.

"HIKARU, I KNOW YOUR IN THERE!" I cried out. "PLEASE FIGHT BACK! YOU DON'T NEED TO DO THIS!"

Helios was getting irritated tried to push me away. "Stupid brat! Let go of me! Your brother listens to me, and me alone! He doesn't need a reckless, dumb brother like you!"

He grabbed me by the hair and pulled really hard. It hurt a lot, but I didn't care. When love and family are involved, all that's negative goes numb.

"Hikaru, please...come back...I know you don't want any of this.... You're not that kind of person...."

I repeatedly and desperately called for my brother while remembering all of the happy times we had together. Sure, we may have argued a lot, but in the end, we're still family.

That was when I heard...

"H-Hyuga?"

It was his voice alright. The one I have recognised for so long.

I was glad that my brother was back. However, that happiness didn't last long when I heard him cry and speak in fear.

"I-It hurts...I...can't control...my body...he won't stop..."

Oh, now I'm really mad at Helios. To think that a beyblade would betray their partner like this.

"Don't worry, big bro. We'll find a way to save you. I promise."

He continued to cry and I hugged him tightly nonstop, trying my best to console him and say that everything will be alright.

Later, he stopped crying, and I would find myself being thrown across the hallway.

Luckily, Shu and Aiga managed to catch me before I could hit a wall and possibly get a concussion. When I regained my bearings, I saw that Helios had taken over my brother again.

"How annoying," he snarled at us. "You may have been able to reach him, but I am far more powerful than all of you! I can take over this body whenever I want!"

He then turned around to the other side. "Until I finally defeat that Lane Valhalla, stay out of my way."

Helios gave us a threatening look before leaving. I wanted to chase after him but Shu stopped me.

"Don't go after him, Hyuga," he said to me. "What he said was right. We are no match for him, at least for now. All we can do is prepare."

I was angry at him at first. I need to see my brother again! I can't let Helios force him down this path! But the longer I thought about it, the more right Shu was. I'm just a kid. I'm can't compete with a spirit as strong as Helios. That would just be a death wish.

I could only watch as Helios walked away from us in Hikaru's body. As I stared at him, I looked back at what I said to my brother before.

I promised to save him,

and I'll fulfill that promise no matter what.
