Types of Actors

Working Backstage I've noticed there's multiple types of actors. Some annoying in their own special ways.

We of course are probably hated by the middle actors because we have to try and drill these rules in their head, so I might as well list the types of Stage Crew I know of. So types of theater people.

Actors

1.) The Bossy Commander

Oh I just hate these. My first year moving around sets was Cinderella and we had one of these. This girl played one of the step sisters and probably could be an evil stepmother later down the line. When she gave us commands she spoke down to us.

You may tell us what needs to happen to make your Stage time easier, but don't talk down to us. You speak to us like normal human beings.

2.) Hidden Drama Queen

There's this moment when you see an actor and you know that their one of these. It's in their bow, it's in the way they deliver dialogue. They'll act mostly humane on stage, but once they're on they soak in the limelight.

I've never had to see this girl on he Stage Crew side though. That was nice.

3.) Slightly, Mostly Over the Top

These are the loud actors who just love being out there. They just don't always know that their over the top. They generally land in roles that require a lot of energy and such.

My mother is a theater major and she now acts like this. It's mostly because she's a naturally loud person and this is where a lot of this comes from. But we... I did say we, have a tendency to be loud.... That's where this comes from. The noise.

When I used to act (two shows) I was like this.

4.) The Opera Singer

We had one for two years in a row as the lead. These actors sing as if they should be in the opera with their voices that quiver and sing as such. I liked this girl in Cinderella, she wasn't the best Sandy ever for Grease.

These actors will probably end up going for school to learn how to sing Opera. The girl I mentioned is.

5.) Overly Friendly

The most annoying in their own right. They seem to attach themselves to Stage Crew. They talk a lot and it starts to get annoying when you're listening to cues.

They have the best intentions, but their talkativeness will start to get on your nerves after a while.

6.) Undeserving Diva

You know, the people who act like Diva's but don't deserve it. They act all night and mighty but they're just not any good.

I don't need to say more.

7.) Bossy Commander Ensemble Edition

Take the following: A Popular Girl, Middle Schooler so she's ensemble in the night school show, Some Undeserving Diva and a little Bit of the first entry.

These people love the spot light but they were cast in some shadows last moment. Well light shadows. They cling to the Bossy Commanders and talk down to you like you're idiots and they act in charge.

Okay you popular girl in my grade, I hated you enough for being fake but never talk down to my friends and I like we're idiots or I will put your head on a like and give it to some witches so they can make sure you end up in the deepest layer of hell!!!!!!

Ummmmm......

Hehe?

8.) Down to Earth

These actors are good people who have all the good qualities you need and are friendly but not annoying. They sometimes have talent and they sometimes don't. Sometimes they may be loud but they're always kind and human.

Stage Crew:

1.) Stage Mom (should by the manager)

This is my best friend. The one I work with. She's the unofficial stage manager and in charge. She gives kids candy and knows how to handle things. Tough love ect. But they always are loved.

2.) Snarks A lot

We are generally anti-social. When we do yell its because we must, for the same reasons the Stage Mom. We're generally colder but if you become friends with us that's a good thing.

We also enjoy threatening to push you off the stage. We hate some actors and we like others.

I'm one of these.

3.) Never-Shows-Up-A-Lot

It's in the title. These people are unresponsible, and over all people you don't wanna have.

We had this girl last year who loved doing this but she just didn't show up enough. She came to us this year and our director told her no. She didn't sign up with the other middle schoolers and it turns out she's not a responsible person in general.

She was sad.

And it turns out she has a rough school life. I had to comfort her because she was getting bullied the other day. I may have gotten brownie points with the principal, I didn't realize it, but I was doing this and he passes by looking at me hugging this girl and comforting her.

I felt weird.

4.) Last Minuet Hero's

These are the people your director brings in last minuet and they a miracle workers. We had two for Cinderella.

I'm a skeptical person and I didn't trust her at first. She respected that we were in charge and she was amazing. And then when the girl from 3 started to not feel well show night, a set painter popped in and knew the sets well enough to help us. It was amazing.

That was the best Stage Crew ever.

On Both Sides:

1.) The Potential Couple

The people who you don't know if they're dating or not. Applies to any form of couple.

My friend and I wouldn't be surprised if the middle schoolers think we're lesbians.

My friend whom we'll call Marci loves hugs. You get hugged multiple times before you leave.

On our side of the stage we have two chairs set up and we're right next to one another. Sometimes she'll reach over and hug you. By that I mean pull you over and do it.

Also our friendly disposition to one another and the mixture of people who don't know us have probably contributed to this.

We're not to sure if they actually think this, but we wouldn't be surprised.

2.) The Couple

Can be a mixture or a pure breed. I needn't say more.

3.) The Friends

Needn't say more.

I'm done here. That girl we had Backstage is now acting but she helps us out a lot to the point where I want to say let us do our jobs. We're assigning actors jobs which is painful.... so painful.

Some popular girl wasn't to work Stage Crew and says that she worked the Elementary School Shows like it's a badge of pride. She hasn't been able to show up and we probably won't give her a chance because we gave her the option so we could test her skills one day. If you are doing sports don't do this.

Our director won't let us eat Backstage but that hasn't stopped us. The High School Director (the stage is pretty much hers) gave us permission.

Life's decent.

Here's my favorite Pumpkin Roll recipe that we took a picture of instead of buying the cook book.

Also October Killfest is rolling around. You can draft other Wattpadders, your books characters, other peoples book characters and video game character as long as they haven't participated before. Even your game characters.

I'm making my own lists.

Have fun and see you when the blood shed starts!
