Death, Dragons, Tomb, Bands and Winging it
Hi.
Okay, shitty start.
So now that everyone's updating again... I'm jumping onto the band wagon.
In that time of however long I've updated, I've had some fun. And not had some fun... math homework I looking at you... annoying wasted pieces of paper...
Anyway, I've played a bit of D&D, and one of my players characters finally died. There weren't a lot of s there that day, I only had three players so we just started the dungeon, not really caring. Well a Banshee came along to eff shit up... and she used her move that can reduce a player to 0 hit points if their don't roll high enough.
So the first time said player dropped to 0 hit points was my fault because that afternoon we had really good rolls, and I thought he'd make it. So my other two players killed the Banshee and healed him, so they decided to take a short rest to help him regain some more HP... which in a dungeon is a bad idea.
So two Carrion Crawlers come along and attack. Well one attacks Zook, our now dead character, and I fudged the die a little not realizing how little HP he had. While doing saving throws however, and waiting for a player to save him... Zook rolled a 1...
I then had to tell my players there was no way two people can survive this dungeon and they left. After that we played a crap ton of Cards and Against Humanity, and then I learned how to play pool, and one the first game I played.
As for that Envirothon thing I had... we got second to last place, and the other team from my school got fifth. But we did get a nice pity prize.
But getting for Envirothon made me realize... I have no clue how to study.
I wing pretty much everything I do. I never study, and some how these manage to be my grades:
I don't know how... I really don't. Hell, I don't always pay attention in class and I do my work as fast as I can so I can read. Of course I was spoken to about my third quarter grades, but my parents apologized sometime afterward.
But back to Envirothon, there was some stuff you just couldn't really study for and some of the questions... whoooboy....
But I know for next year, and hopefully I can be a better asset and my team and I can get the measly amount of scholarship money available.
I'm also pretty sure I pulled a muscle in one of my calves doing all that walking around outside... in my boots... because my right calf has been hurting a bit since then, today and yesterday were the worst.
Marching band also started a couple of weeks ago... and we have two novices this year, and so far they both really don't seem to care.
"I don't get why we have to be in step."
Because you were ordered to. We aren't students anymore, we're a bunch of uniformed students acting like a machine, and turning and horn flashing at the same time while playing music at the same time. Stop fucking complaining, you signed up for this shit.
And there's this new kid in the Sousaphone section that was on the other Envirothon team, and he's a junior. My best friend (who has a crush on him) and I, who can't stand his voice, think he just signed up to go to DC this year. His brother has been in marching band as long as I have.
But I saw the funkiest freaking thing.
This new kid, who the section leader is helping... it looked like he was trying to give orders on behalf of the section leader... bwa- I won't lau- BWAHAHAHA!
Oh that's precious... that's precious...
Okay, I'm done being mean, because for all I know he could have been asking a question... but the way he was moving his arm and talking... that's not how you ask a question.
Okay, I will really really stop.
Here be my cat.
Now that I'm done talking about band, my mother did something really cool over spring break. She's co-writing a series with someone, and they shot something called a Proof of Concept. They would show this to people like producers and they're also using it to raise money so they could properly shoot the series.
They had actors and the place they shot it at, this woman lets people use her house sometimes, and it's gorgeous. I only have pictures of the carriage house garage, but her living room... oh my god.
She had a bunch of those wooden chairs with the cloth backs and seats, a square brown couch that was really nice and all sorts of decor in there that screams... I have money!
Her home was beautiful.
Here's some pictures of one of the scenes they were shooting:
I helped set up the chairs...
But my mother was directing this, and that little cart thing you saw the camera in was called a Dolly. This one was homemade, but it's what they use to do pans and some other shots.
And they shoot the same sene over and over again from different angles (I always thought that they had enough camera to shoot that... I was wrong, but I guess is should've been obvious to me), and my mom would come in and direct. My step dad made a cameo as some guy sweeping in the background.
So cool!
I'm also 99% sure I met Benny's doppelgänger, who was playing a British dude.
But my mom said that I might get a job on set when they shoot this for real and I would get payed. If she can't figure out how she should technically do that, she'd pay me out of her own pocket.
Ahhh... car and collage money...
Of course this is in 6-8 months, but think of how good that'd look on a collage resume...
I also met with my guidance counselor to make my schedule next year... and I'm very begrudgingly taking Spanish... why?
Because my councilor pushes Spanish for an Advanced Regents Diploma, when I can instead take all of the art classes and get that. But oh, we might not always offer these classes. And if you're planning on going to a four year collage, three years of a language looks great. And we offer collage Spanish in house so you can get your credits here. Besides for someone who's going to go for education, you need at least this many (insert credits), so you might want to go here. This is especially important if you want to teach at the collegial level.
So yeah... and to get my computer credit out of the way I'm taking music theory. I could apparently get it with Photography, but here's the thing, and I didn't mention this to my art teacher when I was talking with her about it...
Photography is in high demand for a class, and we only have so many computers. Everyone wants to take it, even though you have to take Studio. I'm not at the top of the priority list for that class, it's goes seniors then down the list, so by the time I might even get into the class, I might be in my senior year, and by then I might sign up for the New Visions program where I can do Specialized Jobs, and twice every week I Shadow someone in the profession I' interested in. So I only have half a day.
I think I might e-mail my councilor though and have him change my Music Theory class to Photo, so I can still get my credit. Or change my back up class to Photo, because I really want to take music theory.
I can't wait until my junior year, because we can take online collage courses or a distance learning course that's live. I hope that they have the one I'm interested in, because in the catalogue we looked at to get an idea of the program. I just hope they offer it online.
But my goals are:
Get as many collage credits as possible... and make especially sure I get into collage level English.
Try and get the drawing and painting classes done because of my other job interest.
Get as many scholarships as possible. My mom wants me to go to a State School, and we actually have pretty decent schools here, but for the longest time I've had this wish to go to an Ivy League school. I know it's a little far fetched... okay, not a little.
I know that a State School is my best choice, but I always thought when I was younger, wow, smart people go there. I could become really smart.
I now know rich people are the people that really get the most opportunities to go to places like that. I also know that I don't have the money and the chances of my getting a scholarship to somewhere like that are low.
It's just a little dream you have, and in reality I know I will go to a State School because Mother said. It's just a matter of not wanting me to be in debt for the rest of my life.
We aren't rich, and we don't have the money to send me to a private school, so even if I bust my ass off and get scholarships, it will always be a state school, because in my state I won't have to pay tuition, and that money would go to be still being in that school and getting my Masters as my mother out it.
She forgot to mention that to be a professor... I'll technically be going for doctorate...
I don't need anyone to remind me that this needs to be the case, because I know. But that doesn't stop some people from wishing.
I have no clue why I even decided to share that part with you. It's just a little dream.
Don't say a word about it... at all...
Here's my cat again.
