13 Dancing Princesses: Spirits Calling
Scene: Jasmine & Lysander
The sacred grove shimmered with quiet magic, every leaf humming with unseen voices. Jasmine lingered near the circle of ancient stones, her aquamarine dress glowing faintly beneath the dappled light.
Lysander stood at the center, staff planted firmly in the earth, eyes closed. His lips moved in a language she didn't know-gentle, melodic, and powerful. The air stirred. Slowly, the grove came alive: the trees creaked, the grass swayed though there was no wind, and faint, whispering lights began to appear, drifting around him like fireflies.
Jasmine's eyes widened. The spirits.
He opened his eyes, brown and steady, and lifted a hand. One of the lights floated down to him, hovering above his palm. Then, with a tilt of his head, he glanced at her. "Come closer."
She hesitated, and he smirked faintly. "I know you've been watching me this whole time. Don't act shy now."
Her cheeks warmed, but she stepped into the circle, drawn by the strange beauty of the glowing spirits.
"This is my bond with them," Lysander said, his tone softer now. "But don't be fooled. They bend to no one's will. Spirits are like the wind-they move as they please. All I have done is learn to listen, to coax them into hearing me in return."
He gestured, and the light hovered toward her. Jasmine extended her hand instinctively. The spirit flitted above her palm, playful, almost testing. She gasped softly when it pulsed once, like a heartbeat, before darting back into the air.
Lysander studied her expression carefully. "You have power too, don't you? I can feel it."
She hesitated. "I... make wishes come true. Sometimes. But it isn't always what I mean. It's like..." She frowned. "The magic twists things."
"Wishcraft," Lysander murmured, almost to himself. His staff tapped the earth once, resonant. "Dangerous. Beautiful." His gaze fixed on hers. "But you don't have to let it consume you. If you'd allow it, I could help you learn. Guide you. Like the spirits, your gift won't be commanded-but it can be coaxed."
Jasmine's lips parted, her catlike blue eyes shining with curiosity and just a hint of mischief. "And what would you want in return, traveler?"
His smile deepened, teasing but with a spark of seriousness beneath. "Only to see what wishes a girl like you might make."
