Dess's Sad Ending
So Dess_Basilisk and I were having a conversation when she died because of the BOTFA.
So I edited it some and here it is!
So, yeah. Enjoy!
****************
It was late at night when Vanadessë and I had went for a walk. I was gone for so long that I can barely remember my way through Rivindell. We have been catching up on what had happened in the last few hundred years.
The stars twinkled with happiness and delight. The night was still with a sense of peace. Although all elves were resting, Dess and I stayed awake to talk. Elrond I believe was in his study, Legolas was visiting on a small errand from his father Thranduil.
Princess Vanadessë and I were walking down the hallway and I was listening to her talk about Elrohir. Apparently he tried to prank her and failed miserably. As I said before, it was around midnight and not one elf was up, except us and maybe the occasional guard.
"So then Elrohir gave me the-" Vanadessë stopped talking abruptly. "Elladan! I can hear you! You can't sneak up on me that easily!" She called into the late night.
Suddenly, an orc jumped out of a bush in front of us. It's ugly face was hidden in the darkness of the night. But still you could see the bow it held. Vanadessë gave a slight yelp and I reached towards my bow, only to find it gone. I realised that I only had my sword and that I had left my bow next to my bed.
The orc pulled out an arrow, aimed for me, and let the arrow fly. The arrow missed by a long shot, and the orc ran. I took off after it, catching up easily.
It turned and snarled at me, raising a rusty blade. I raised my own in return. We charged at each other and soon, the orc was headless on the ground. Blood pooling from where it's head used to be. I kicked it one last time.
Disgusting orc filth.
Turning around I gasped at the sight. Vanadessë was laying on the ground, an arrow sticking out of her side. I quickly ran towards her and dropped to my knees. Vanadessë was gasping for air, her hands clenched into balls because of the pain.
Vanadessë looked at me, eyes watering, "Vanáezae. It h-hurts."
"Shh, be still," I whispered.
I moved to remove the arrow but she stopped me. She shook her head no.
"Leave it," she said.
Vanadessë coughed and squeezed her eyes shut. Opening them back up she said, "T... Take care of my dragons... a-and tell Legolas... tell Legolas that he has been the brightest st-star in all my life."
"Dess, you'll be okay. I know you will. You always get better," I said, tears clouding my vision.
Vanadessë chuckled, "It seems not this time, mellon."
I looked down, tears spilling.
Vanadessë pulled out a paper from her side bag. Share handed it to me, "Please. G-Give this to... Ada."
I shook my head, "Give it to him yourself."
I heard footsteps coming towards us. I looked up and saw Legolas walking around the corner. Legolas looked up from the ground and at us. He ran forward and dropped to his knees.
"Vanáezae. What happened?" He asked, looking down at Vanadessë.
"It was an orc," I answered.
Legolas looked down upon Dess, who was having a hard time staying conscious, and slowly closing her eyes. She was losing too much blood.
Legolas shook her awake, "No! My love! You can't leave me! Not like this!"
Vanadessë instantly snapped her eyes open and looked to Legolas, "I... I'm sorry... But my time here... is o-over."
I got up and rushed for Lord Elrond's room, knocking on his door as fast as I could. Elrond almost immediately opened the door.
"What's the matter?" He asked, seeing the tears in my eyes and my worried face.
"I-It's Vanadessë! She's d-dying!" I said, tears falling even faster.
"Where?!" Lord Elrond said, almost yelling.
I ran down the hallway and led him straight to Dess, hoping I wasn't too late. We turned a sharp corner and came upon Legolas, with Vanadessë's head in his lap, crying.
Elrond rushed forward and kneeled down on the other side of Dess. She was still alive, but holding on as tight as she could.
Elrond's face was so sad. His eyes were tearing up, and he looked heart broken. Just as heartbroken as he was when he found out that Arwen gave away her immortality for Aragorn. Maybe more.
"What happened?" Elrond asked, eyes full of tears.
"It was an orc," I repeated, tears falling down my cheeks. "W-We thought it was Elladan and..." I trailed off.
Elrond looked back down at his dying daughter, "Please don't leave me, my daughter."
Vanadessë looked away from Legolas and to her father, "Ada... goheno nin... but I have to leave... Gi melin... Ada," She said weakly.
"No," I whispered, "You're going to live."
Vanadessë looked back to Legolas, "I'm s-sorry... but my time here i-is over. Farewell, my love.... My star."
Tears started falling from Elrond's eyes, "I love you too, lellig."
I held onto Vanadessë's hand pleading her not to die, and telling her that she would make it. She only smiled weakly at me in return. I heard more footsteps coming down the hallway, and turned to see Arwen walk around the corner.
Arwen looked up from her book and saw us. Her eyes widened. She dropped her book and ran forward to Dess.
"Vanadessë!" Arwen said, in shock.
Dess looked at her sister, "A-Arwen... you know the story I was writing? The o-one I never let you... r-read?"
Arwen nodded, her eyes now full of tears.
"I want... you to h-have it. It's yours now.... Arwen," Vanadessë said, handing her a book from her satchel.
Arwen held it close to her chest, tears falling freely from her eyes. Vanadessë's eyes started closing again.
"Stay awake! Please, gi melin," Legolas said.
Elrond moved so Dess's head was in his lap, and Legolas took my place. I however, didn't stay. I went to find help.
*3rd POV*
Vanáezae ran as quickly as she could to find help, leaving Vanadessë with Elrond, Legolas, and Arwen.
Vanadessë took Legolas's hand in her own and looked him in his eyes, life fading from her quickly. All eyes were down onto her as she layed there dying.
"I just want you to know... that I can't even b-begin to say how much I love you... You've always been their for m-me... All the times... you held me as I cried... I truly couldn't ask f-... for more," Vanadessë said, looking at her father, sister, and Legolas.
"Shh, try not to speak," Lord Elrond said.
She coughed and blood started showing in her mouth. Arwen quickly wiped it away.
"Legolas," Vanadessë said, "Promise... promise me that you'll g-go on. I-I couldn't have it... if you destroyed yourself with grief... I p-promise that I'll always watch over y... you. Maybe... I'll become a star, and you c-can draw me on my constellation chart."
"It shouldn't have to come to that! You'll live! Please! Please," Legolas said, kissing her hand.
Vanadessë smiled weakly, she was close to death. More blood pooled out of the wound. Legolas shrugged off his overcoat and covered the wound, arrow still in her, trying to stop the bleeding.
"Even though I do not want to die... it is my time... But true love never d-dies. Remember, when the world seems lost in darkness... know that I'll a-always be their with you. Don't let grief over take you, I c-couldn't bear it if you died... because of me," Vanadessë said, coughing up more blood.
"P-Please don't do this to me, goheno nin," Legolas said.
Dess smiled, her grip on Legolas's hand loosening, "I love you too. Namarië, my love." Vanadessë's hand fell limp in Legolas's hand. Her eyes losing all life to them.
Legolas let out a cry of sadness, his heart shattering at his beloved's death. Arwen looked at her sister, tears falling, "Dess? Dess! Come back!"
Elrond picked her up and cradled her against his chest, crying harder than the rest of them. Vanáezae came rushing to them, nurses trailing behind her. She gasped, "No! Vanadessë!"
Arwen looked up at her crying friend, tears falling down her own cheeks, "She's gone."
Vanáezae covered her mouth, "No. No! Sh-she can't be!"
She dropped to her knees, "Why? Why! She was so young."
Vanáezae started crying even more at the thought if her dead friend. Arwen looked back up, her eyes red, "We... we tried to keep her here... but she..." Arwen tried to say more, but burst into more tears.
The next few days were filled with sadness. Grey clouds covered the skies and no birds sung their songs. It was as if all life was drained from Rivindell. Neither Vanáezae nor Arwen would leave there rooms. Elrond and Legolas tried to get them out, but couldn't.
When Arwen did leave her room, she was found wandering the woods. Vanáezae however, was just gone one day. No explanation of where she went. Most thought that she couldn't take it and left, others, she decided to move on.
Arwen actually knew. Her friend left to hunt each and every orc down. No matter what the cost.
