Comparison

So guys. As you may know...
I started writing Warriors: Revenge again.
I want to compare the original chapter in Warriors: Fury (275 words) to my new chapter in Warriors: Revenge (1,173 words). Both are on the same topic, but one is longer by around 900 words (XD)

Original version:
Blossompaw padded through the hunting grounds of StarClan, basking in warm sunshine. StarClan really is paradise...
She sat near her brother. He didn't see her, and was talking to his new StarClan friend, a she-cat named Lightpaw.
"Every time I see Blossompaw, I feel so guilty. I was the cause of her death. She would have fought back if she wasn't injured! I just wish I didn't have to feel so guilty..." Darkpaw meowed.
Blossompaw twitched her ears towards Darkpaw. Huh?
"It's so hard, because I hate guilt. If I didn't have to see her-"
Blossompaw jumped out at him. "So that's how you feel. You don't want to see me!"
Darkpaw looked up at her. "No! It isn't like that! It's not that I don't want to see y-"
"It's exactly like that. You just said you didn't want to see me. You're-" Blossompaw's voice quivered. "You're as bad as Thornstrike!"
Darkpaw looked at her, a confused look on his face. "What?"
"You won't have to ever see me again." Blossompaw turned and ran, ran to what she was looking for. She knew that if she made this decision, she could never go back.
She was looking for the Dark Forest border.
When she arrived there, she took one careful step towards it.
Do I really want to do this?
My life has been so hard! I wish I could just-just-just get away from it all!
I'm leaving StarClan.
She tentatively took a step across the border, and another.
Soon, she was gone, only a few paw prints left in her trace.
Author's Note: Sorry for the extremely short chapter :T

And there is is: 275 words.
The new version is way better (in my opinion).
Here it is:

Maple sat by the Twoleg den, looking for Toad. She was sure that he would be happy about her plan of revenge.

"Toad?" she called, staring through a glassy substance outside of the den.

His head popped up and was visible through the glassy surface. Maple couldn't see his face, as it was tilted away from the glassy surface.

As Maple edged closer to the weird, glassy surface, she could hear a faint and somewhat distorted meowing, which she assumed came from Toad. Trying to decipher it wasn't easy, but Maple guessed he wanted to go outside, probably to see if she was around the nest somewhere.

Her tail swished along the ground impatiently. She needed a plan, and Toad was her only remaining sibling- well, not counting Thornstrike, but neither of the two siblings counted themselves as his brother and sister, not anymore- who could help with her plan to attack the Clans. To make them sorry.

She reflected on everything the Clans had done to her.

Unfair exile, which led to Darkpaw's death. Killing Blossompaw when they knew she was injured in her hind leg, which led to us running away. That led to a Toad becoming a kittypet. The actions that they have done to make our lives miserable will backfire on them. I will make sure of it.

The Twolegs weren't letting Toad outside, so Maple turned and padded away to ponder her plan. How will I make this work? she was wondering when she came across a river.

I remember this river! It was close to the Twolegplace- the one Maple had tried to cross before Toad was taken away from her.

Could I swim across? Maple wondered briefly. I could try.

Taking a deep breath, she placed her right forepaw into the water. She followed with her left forepaw, and then her right hind leg. She tentatively placed her left hind leg into the water.

After a few moments, she found that she could paddle easily, and that her paws were webbed to fit swimming in the river.

Only RiverClan cats have these webbed paws for swimming, and only RiverClan cats swim...

Am I RiverClan?

It's possible. We could be Clan cats.

Then she remembered the tom who had took Blossompaw away. He had had a sort of fishy scent, and on border patrols, she had often scented that scent on the border.

He was RiverClan.

But then she remembered how the tom had looked. Gray fur, amber eyes, and he was one of the bigger warriors in RiverClan, it seemed like. His eyes looked exactly like-

Blossompaw's eyes. Maple realized that a second after she thought about his looks, and she hadn't even realized it until now, but his pelt looked kind of like...

Thornstrike's, Toad's, and Darkpaw's.

Is he our father?

Maple also hadn't realized that her pelt was, unlike other tortoiseshell cats in the Clans, darker than usual.

Is that from his gray pelt?

I think so. He is our father, isn't he? It must be. All this time we were searching for our parents, and one was right here.

And what's more, we were exiled because we wouldn't fight ThunderClan! But our parents- or, one of them- is from RiverClan!

Who's our mother, then? She must be RiverClan, or maybe not. Not everyone follows the code, and that can lead to exiles or death.

Maple remembered her brother, Darkpaw, and her sister, Blossompaw, who had suffered from the Clans, when all they were trying to do was protect their family.

"They are going to pay," she murmured to herself, very softly. "They must pay. Two innocent cats died because of them, and one had been injured already! Those two did not deserve to suffer, and because of Darkpaw's death, another car, Dusk, died. If we hadn't been exiled, she wouldn't have died. She should have lived!"

Maple decided to go back to Toad's Twoleg nest and see if he was there. She padded out of the stream and shook herself off. Starting to pad back to the nest, Maple pondered possibilities about who her mother might be. Rogue? Clan cat? Or...

Dead?

This was a possibility that Maple and her littermates had never even thought of, and Maple decided that it might be correct. I don't know of any other possibilities...

But the others could also be correct. Maple knew this. She was getting closer to Toad's Twoleg nest. He was still inside, meowing. Finally, a Twoleg opened up something that was glassy and had a wooden-looking border around it.

Interesting, Maple thought. She stepped aside as Toad exited, and then padded after him. "Toad!" she called.

Toad spun around. "Yes?" he asked. "Oh. Hi, Maple."

Maple sighed. "I have some news." She told him her plan and why she wanted to do it. Then she gave the more interesting news.

"I think the warrior who took Blossompaw to our Cla- ShadowClan- is our father." Seeing Toad's shocked and horrified gaze, she continued, "That warrior had eyes that looked exactly like Blossompaw's eyes-"

"And like yours," Toad interrupted. "Also, he had a pelt color that looked like mine, Thornstrike's, and Darkpaw's. I noticed that too, but I didn't think... well... that he would be our father..."

Maple understood this. It was the same kind of confusion she had felt when she had pondered the idea for the first time.

Toad glanced up. "Do you really think so? Because then our mother could-"

"Could be a Clan cat, I know," Maple finished. "And yes, I'm sure. I somehow just... know it. I feel like it's correct, but I don't know if he knows... that he is a father. It's possible that he doesn't."

"Do you know his name? Or his Clan? Those could help us." Toad stared at Maple expectantly.

"Err... I only know which Clan he's in. RiverClan. Which means we could have been exiled for nothing at all." Maple stared down at the ground, dropping her gaze.

"We need to find him," Toad decided. "He needs to know."

"But why did he abandon five helpless kits? It wasn't fair to us!" Maple felt fury clawing at her sides once again.

"How about we tell him?" Toad meowed to Maple. "But while we're doing it, we'll attack. He needs to pay for what he did to us."

Maple felt satisfied. "Trust me. He will regret it."

Author's Note: I feel that my writing style has changed, but it's better now, I think, because previously I couldn't even stretch out a chapter to around 600 words. Now I will absolutely not publish a chapter until it is 1,000 words or more. Longer chapters are better, after all.
Now I have some questions that I'll leave you with for this chapter, which may be answered sooner or later. It depends.
1) Will Maple and Toad's plan succeed?
2) Who is their father?
3) Who is their mother?
Hop you enjoyed this chapter and continue to read my book :D
(Word count: Exactly 1,173 words)

Vote for which one you like best XD
Just wanted to compare.
