II/III) Music Problems and Spontaneous Rambling

Just me discussing a couple of tiny music-related issues. Edit: No it's not. It starts out that way and rapidly becomes me rambling about my writing process like always.

First of all, have you ever woken up with a song in your head? And has it ever dictated your mood? Cause I was unfortunate enough to start out my day slightly sad due to the fact that I have "Two" by Sleeping at Last stuck in my head. I know I've already talked about that song, but it's just so bittersweet.

And it also super reminds me of Tozen.

And here's where my other dumb little issue comes in.

Sometimes when I'm writing for LDOD, I'll play the playlist I made for it. And for the most part, it works out perfectly. Sometimes, though, a cluster of songs from the same character will play in quick succession. It's kind of cute, cause it makes me feel as though the character is saying hi to me, but it frustrates me because then it gets me out of the headspace of whoever I'm trying to write for 😂

Like, "Yes, Tozen, I appreciate the greeting, but I'm trying to write Kana," or "Hello, Chimon, thanks for checking in, but now I'm having a really hard time getting back into the Wakumi mindset."

This is probably gonna turn into a ramble abt writing again... but when has anything I've ever done NOT been abt writing?

It's said that a good amount of professional authors perceive their characters as having autonomy and wills of their own. And that's definitely true of me (though I swear I'm not calling myself a professional, I swear). Even if I have a certain amount of control over some things, I feel like they definitely enforce themselves.

I guess an example I'll use is the nicknames between the cast...

I pretty much immediately figured out that it takes Wakumi a long time to remember people's names. So the Ginny thing started out like that. But then I figured Wakumi would do it to frustrate Joanie, and then, later, she just wouldn't let me stop. I'm pretty sure she's used Joanie's real name only one or two times. She also never calls her "wench," despite her calling every other female character a wench, because she doesn't see Joanie as having the same daintiness/fragility. It's always "lassie," whereas with the other girls, it alternates between the two.

This next example includes Spoilers for Chapter 3, so beware...

Also, it was very obvious to me that Azumi would like calling Bisque, "Bisquey." I fought it a lot, but included it in his FTE's. I thought it was pretty cute, but by then, I realized that HE didn't like it. It just felt off, because he felt like he was being babied. If I hadn't had him talk about that, it would've been like... a betrayal of his trust, in a way.

Spoilers over.

Some authors can apparently even enter into dialogue directly with their characters... I can't have full-blown conversations with them. I just intuit what they're trying to tell me based on the emotion I'm getting, or a feeling of "correctness." I describe it as them whispering to me, but it's not in the form of real words so I don't think it's the same thing. Imagine being able to actually talk to them?

Okay I think I'm done... because I ran out of steam and Idk where to take this ramble anymore.

I'm so sorry for being the way I am 😂😂😂
