I/VI) Reasons I'm Afraid of Bodily Disfiguration/Swelling
Just remembered the game Banjo Kazooie. Started thinking about all of those weird little things that traumatized me as a kid. Let's go through some of them. Mild Spoilers for Gravity Falls (just don't read the description for that one and you should be fine).
1) Bees in Animal Crossing
The first time I played Animal Crossing (City Folk, in case you were wondering), I realized that by shaking trees, you can maybe get Bells. What I didn't know was that you can also get bees, and if they sting you, you get this little treat. This one actually didn't scare me as much as some of these others, but it wasn't pleasant and I was only eight.
2) Tracker Jackers
THANKS I HATE IT. Before I ever watched/read any of the Hunger Games, my older sister described Tracker Jackers as "wasps whose stings well up this big" *proceeds to make large circle with hand*. Even that description was enough to freak me out, but yikes.
3) Banjo Kazooie Game Over
Basically, the goal of the villain in the first Banjo Kazooie game is to steal the cuteness of the main character Banjo's sister Tooty. This one doesn't freak me out nearly as much now as it did when I was young, but the concept of stealing beauty deeply unsettles me even now.
4) Hackerized (Cyber Chase)
Here's another one of those ones that don't scare me nearly as much now as when I was a kid. But the idea behind it is still icky. Imagine a gas that, if you inhale it for three minutes, will morph you into something unrecognizable and totally shift your personality. Not as scary visually anymore. Still creepy.
Now for the ones that I STILL really hate.
5) Mabel's Biggest Fear (Gravity Falls)
Bill Cypher is a son of a bitch who, while in the dream world, can bring someone's greatest fears to life. Mabel's is apparently losing her cuteness. God, I hate this.
6) Cat Fingers (Steven Universe)
THEY FUCKING WRITHE AND MOVE AROUND AND IT'S TERRIFYING.
7) Truth Or Punishment (SVTFOE)
Another one of those where you have to watch it happen over time and it's terrible.
Special mention goes to the Ugly-Inator episode of Phineas and Ferb. I couldn't find a picture of Perry under the ray's effects, but of course that was the first episode I ever saw. It legit almost deterred me from watching the show. Thank God it didn't.
