I) Some of My Fave MySims Characters
I love the MySims series. It's the literal first series I was ever fanatically devoted to. Sure, it may have been a bit janky at times, but I completely and utterly adored it in my childhood, and I still do, honestly. Though I've never played MySims Racing and MySims SkyHeroes (which makes me worry about coming across as a "fake fan"), I wanted to make a list of some of my favorite characters from this series and explain why I like them.
I'll start off with the one I genuinely have just always adored since I was six for very little logical reason.
This is Clara. I found her in the very first MySims game and instantaneously became obsessed with her. She doesn't have a whole lot going on; she's just a normal girl. But she's very sweet and loves cute things very much. When I was really little, I'd style my character like her and pretend to be her twin, and, for some reason, I took delight just in hanging around her house for in-game days at a time.
In MySims Agents, she also has a Kraken for a best friend, and I think that's pretty darn swell. You host a tea party with said Kraken and it's genuinely a non-optional part of the story. So yeah. Praise be to Mr. Suckers.
On the exact opposite end of the spectrum of cuteness, we have...
Goth Boy. He's a mainstay in the MySims series. He tries so hard to be taken seriously, but that is not in the cards for him. Everyone's favorite little edgelord. In MySims Agents, he gets roped into selling Turkey on a Fork. At the beach. In the sun. Which he obviously loves. In MySims Kingdom, he spends time guiding you and your partners through Spookane purely because he wants to prove that life is futile, boring, and hopeless... and actually admits when he changes his mind! He loves dark poetry and is, just in general, highly entertaining.
Another resident of Spookane is...
Zombie Carl. He's a zombie, but he's a very good guy. He gets framed in MySims Agents, and you wind up getting him both into and out of trouble. He was a butler back when he was alive, and he's still eager to please even in the afterlife. He's just a really decent person, y'know? I honestly don't have TOO much to say about him. But he makes me smile.
Ginny. Just by seeing that name, you'll understand that I took a lot of subconscious inspiration from this little lassie. The braided hair and freckles that Wakumi has are flat-out meant to be references, but the name being what Wakumi calls Joanie was an accident. In MySims Kingdom, instead of a pirate, she's a Sheriff. And she helps you redeem Rusty, a bandit causing trouble across the whole town, by befriending him and helping you give him a genuinely fun and joyful place to stay.
Her MySims Party mini game sucks, though. I was never good at it.... MOVING ON.
T.O.B.O.R
Yes. That's Robot spelled backwards.
This guy hasn't existed for very long and he's already totally over it, which is a mood. Created by Dr. F, another actual character in the series, T.O.B.O.R is subjected to a lot of shenanigans that he was not mentally prepared for. In MySims Kingdom, tired of being a crash dummy for rocket testing, he decides to quit and have you make him a diner. Because that's always been his dream.
In MySims Agents, you need him to help you acquire something in underwater caverns. Problem is.... he's afraid of kelp. You help Dr. F reprogram him, but it's a Pyrrhic victory— he is now afraid of squirrels. Sarcastic and quick-witted, he's pretty much a begrudging friend of your character. He's even briefly playable!
This lad is Vic Vector. He's a gamer and a geek and I love him. Though I didn't think too much of him in the first game, he grew on me QUICKLY. In MySims Kingdom, he becomes the astronaut to step up when T.O.B.O.R quits. He gets to fulfill his dream, and, though you need to help talk him into it when Dr. F freaks him out, he's a very courageous character.
In MySims Agents, he's just a total delight. He's an agent like you... though hired by the government, not an agency, like you. He's partnered with Rosalyn, and he plays the softer, funnier character to her strict, no-nonsense attitude.
Leaf is hilarious conceptually. He's an elf who wants to be a rock star more than anything. While Petal, a very spiritual, traditional elf, is attempting to help you revitalize the Forest to its full glory, this little punk is diverting all the water to his hot tub. He DOES, however, help you attract the unicorns back with an electric guitar show (no, I'm NOT kidding).
And you'd best believe I went back at the end of the game to find a way to hook up his hot tub again without ruining the plants.
This is Patrick Rhino. Big dad energy with this one. He loves food. Legitimately, in MySims Party, his mini game is FRYING BACON. He temporarily works at a construction site in MySims Agents, and he's just a gem. He's among the first characters I ever met as a child (I think he's the third), and he's just a really easygoing, pleasant guy.
Obviously Buddy was gonna show up in this list. He's pretty much the series mascot. As the Bellboy in the Hotel in the original MySims, he's the one helping you convince Sims to move in. He's constantly at your side in both MySims Kingdom and MySims Agents, being your right-hand man in both. He's genuinely very entertaining, and has a lot of really random trivia? Like, he has a courier pigeon named Guillermo and he played the horn in a marching band. He would be my all-time favorite, if not for...
Violet Nightshade. God, I love her. She's brooding and dark without ever being unkind. She's dating, of all people, the Prince of Cutopia in MySims Kingdom, indicating that she doesn't judge people for having different interests and styles than her. She helps you clear Carl's name in MySims Agents, so that indicates that she's an incredible friend. She's one of the first people you meet in the original game. And she is wonderful to her little sister, Poppy. Violet is an incredible sister, willing to pretty much put her whole life on hold if it means protecting and caring for her little sister. There's really nobody quite like Violet in the series. And I would dare to say that she's my favorite character in the series.
Thank you guys for listening to my random-ass ramble about a series I loved as a child. I just felt like I needed to do this cause the idea made my heart so warm.
