Imagine meeting Charlie and Rex

Based off season 1 and a bit into seasons 2 {specifically episode 9 the dating app case}

You are the twin sibling to Jesse but not identical and despite him working with the police you took the life of a baker, but that also doesn't mean you don't know your way around a computer since you both are nerd's/ geeks {since people think it means the same or opposite} in tech and all sorts

You took your college in Toronto but also did a few courses in England as well but when you came back to Canada you set up your own bakery which Jesse helped you promote it being the nice big brother he is since he had some spare time when not working on cases

You daily send baked goods to the station as a thanks for their good hard work and because you felt it was a nice thing to do but when Jesse mentioned there was a dog at the office too

Well Charlie says that he will eat anything he's a vortex of consuming everything

Right so if I make him something he won't get ill over it?

So, after looking up some more recipes online you started making some in the house since you didn't want to make some fresh meat meals or treats in the same place as your company goods before making a special box for him and made it for the next delivery

The next morning the daily delivery arrives, and the delivery guys make the delivery rounds to the main room before going around the place but when they got to Charlie's desk, they put two boxes down with one labelled Rex

"What's with the two boxes?" Charlie asked with a chuckle as he was just used to receiving one and sharing it with Rex since it was their thing, and they were fine with that

"Oh, I've been talking with her about this, and the second one is specifically for Rex" Jesse spoke out from his desk as he set some of his equipment to the side since he was doing something private for the captain

"Oh, have you now?" Charlie teased with a smirk turning to face him thinking that you were some sort of crush he had and wanted to see if he could get more info out on who you were

"Yeah, and we can't leave Rex out and she finds it a bit unfair how your treats go on Rex" he replied with a confused look since has assuming that he likes you in that way even though you were his sister

"You hear that buddy you get your own treats" Charlie spoke out looking at Rex who barks happily in return as he sat up from his seat and more some more while panting happily

So as Charlie opens Rex's box he looks and sees some treats are sweet based and others that are meat based then proceeds to hand Rex a chunk of one of the cookies that was in there after smelling it and seeing it was peanut butter and banana cookie which was ok for him to have in his opinion but knew that you wouldn't have made it if it wasn't safe for him

"If you want specific treats, you can go down and tell her so she can make them for him" Jesse replied with a smile as he turned in his chair to face him properly

"Maybe we will do that" he replied while petting Rex's head lovingly while shaking his ears in the process

"great I will give you her business card" he spoke out as he handed Charlie your card with your company name on and such, but it didn't have your real name on since you thought it wasn't necessary

A week later since he had a case to occupy him, he was finally free and had a day off, so he decided to go to the bakery, but Jesse was already there since he was updating your security system as well as other things that you had asked him to do

"hey Charlie welcome" Jesse welcomed with a grin on his face as he looked up from his laptop to see him enter the bakery with Rex in tow

"hey Jesse, what are you doing here?" he asked confused as he watched Rex who tried to get into the back but got stopped by someone

"nice try buddy but no dogs allowed back here even if you are a police officer" you chuckled as Rex backed off and went next to Charlie with a slight whine

"sorry he's used to going into other people's places if he thinks he can get food from it" Charlie replied with a chuckle as he looked from Jesse to Rex before up at you making him awe at your beauty which made him silent in return with his mouth open slightly

"well, if he wanted some treats, I could happily give him some" you spoke out as you pulled out some peanut butter and pumpkin biscuits that was on a basket on the counter and moved to the front of the shop to give one to Rex with a smile as he started eating it "how's it coming along J?" you asked as you walked to Jesse and looked over his shoulder

"great I'm just putting up the finishing touches then I'm going to fix up your website since there has been some glitches" he spoke out as he flipped in his seat to face you but got confused at Charlie since he hadn't spoken in a while

"earth to Charlie" you spoke out as you walked to him and waved a hand in front of him making him snap out of him by quickly shaking his head making you chuckle amused

"oh, sorry I was in my own world..." he spoke out chuckling awkwardly while scratching the back of his neck blushing slightly while Rex barked up at him "I know buddy, but she can't keep giving you all the treats you want" he replied ruffling his fur hopefully hiding the blush from you

"so, I was wondering what little Rex here would prefer because I can make some meat treats for him instead of sugary ones?" you asked as you leaned down and petted his playfully while he panted in return leaning into your touch more

"he's a vortex so anything you would make him he would prefer I do feed him" Charlie replied as he slowly walked over to the counter while Jesse went back to his seat

"that's what Jesse said too but I thought you being the owner would have more of an insight on the matter" you chuckled amused as you gave Rex another small peanut butter and pumpkin cookie

"what can I say Rex will eat anything you give him but has a hard time with coconut...he's had a few cases involving that, and he just backed away from it" he spoke out making Rex whine a bit at the thought, but you made a mental note of it regardless

"no coconut go it...now what do you not like or prefer" you spoke out but paused a bit in thought after a bit and he went quiet for a bit as he started to list them for you, and you took note with a small hum when you got back to the counter

A month later and you two had really started to hit it off and became inspirable she he was either off cases or when he got sent home from working a late case but when he worked a really late case but since he never disclosed them for you because his jobs states he can't and because he wanted to protect you, but he couldn't from this one

Normally Charlie would pick you up and take you back home but tonight he couldn't so as you walked back home calmly as you had a cup of to go coffee in your hand you walked up to Charlie chasing after someone who was wearing a tight dress while he was in a really fancy suit

You stopped in your tracks and watched the scene in front of you but before anyone noticed you were there and before you could hear him address his detective status you were already gone as you were fighting back tears thinking that you finally had someone, but it was a lie

When you got home after taking a different route home which took a bit longer, but you didn't care as you locked your doors and went to take a shower as you were silently thankful that Charlie didn't have a key to your place yet, but you had one for his which you were planning to return

When you got out you got concerned texts from Charlie

Charlie you

Hey where are you? I thought you were staying over at mine tonight?

Or did you have a change of plans and were staying at yours?

Yeah...uhh change of plans since you were working late I've decided to stay at mine tonight but it's fine since you probably have someone else to stay over with you anyway

What are you talking about? Who's the someone else that isn't you?

Well besides Rex of course

A few moments after Charlie sent that text he knew exactly who you were on about and tried to call you to clear things up but you weren't answering since it just went to voice mail and you weren't answering his texts either on how he was explaining it was for a case and such but you didn't believe him as you read them but only on the notification bar so he didn't see that you were reading them

"hey Jesse, can you tell your friend that I'm not cheating on her she thinks I am" Charlie spoke out as he called Jesse in a panic to see if he could talk to you still not knowing you were related since you said he had to figure it out for himself

"and why would you be cheating on her? I told you if you break her heart I will end you" he replied back protectively but he soon realized as well before he replied to him the first time since he got to protective brother mode first "sorry...have you tried explaining it to her?" he asked after a bit his voice calmer than the first time

"I've tried but she's not answering my calls or texts" he replied confused at first wondering why he got concerned first before sighing at the fact since he could ask the question at another time

"have you been to the house?" Jesse asked after a bit as he scratched his forehead in thought of what to do next

"no, not yet" he replied with a small sigh "I'll try there first but if I don't get anything I'll let you try" he added after a bit having a feeling that Jesse would get a better solution out of you then him at this moment of time

"don't I'll go myself you stay at home and I'll talk to her she might listen to me more if you're not there" he spoke out collecting the casefiles as he did so as well as the update suspects so it would back up the reasoning

"alright" Charlie replied as he hung up and moved to flop onto the couch in defeat as Rex moved to sit inbetween his legs to comfort his partner "I know buddy a little misunderstanding but Jesse has got this" he muttered scratching/petting his neck

Meanwhile Jesse was talking with the captain before coming to your place to see if he could use the casefile to mend Charlie's relationship which the captain was all for since he liked seeing Charlie happy and chipper each morning but the only expectation was that you were the only one who could see it and with that he left to your place

After 10 minutes Jesse pull up he got off his car and held the files for their current dating app case before they both started going to the front door and knocked but no answer from you or any motion to come and answer the door so Jesse sighed and opened the door to your place with the keys you gave him

"hi Jesse, what are you doing here?" you asked as you rubbed your face with your hands since you knew Jesse didn't like to see you cry

"I'm here to tell you that Charlie isn't cheating on you it's for a case" he spoke out after a few moments as he walked towards you as you moved to sit on the couch with some takeout sitting in front of you

"a case to date multiple women you can't be that delusional" you shot back after a few minutes annoyed with a slight scoff as you just registered what he just said

"we had to do that to make sure we get the right person to see who killed out victim" Jesse replied as he waved the files in his hand "I'll show you to prove his innocence" he added setting the files on the table

When you hesitantly grabbed the files Jesse started to explain the case to you from the first crime scene to what they were currently doing until this happened at first you didn't believe him since you assumed he was just reading off the file in memory since he had a good one when he wanted to have one but once you realized he was telling the truth

After talking with Jesse some more and finally got into the right mood to talk to Charlie again Jesse left to bring the files back to the SJPD station you decided to pack up the takeout since you subconsciously bought enough for the two of you and headed to Charlie's

When you got there you already heard barking and you didn't get out of the car yet so Charlie got up and went to the door awkwardly smiling at you and you did the same back while holding out the takeout bag in your hand while Charlie made his way over to you

"I wanted to apologize for my quick assumption but I didn't know-" you started to apologize but Charlie cut you off with a kiss

"I understand completely I would think the same in your position but it's in the past now and we can put this all behind us and move on" he whispered as he softly rested his hands on your arms softly making you nod with a soft smile on your face

"I'm sorry" you said after a bit and he smiled in response

"like I said its fine I understand but let's go inside before Rex decides to eat our dinner" Charlie added after giving you another peck on the lips before you watched Rex look at the takeout bag in hunger

After 2 more months you started to move in with him but kept up the payments to your other house in case something happens between the two of you or you needed the time to yourselves but Rex always preferred your house and we both knew why
