Imagine dealing with the nightmares

You were assigned to be the doorman to an apartment complex by a weird company called D.D.D at first you didn't know who they were or why they hired you but you didn't care as it was a job that paid you a decent wage every month since apparently their doormen don't last very long

At first you didn't get the job since you were bad at it but after a few weeks you got the hang of it and you normally stayed longer than normal to the point where you bonded with most of the residents of the block some just didn't seem to bother

After a year and a half of working on the job you had gotten closer to Francis to the point where you moved in with him but kept your apartment in case you needed to stay there for a while which he didn't mind

Every year on Halloween one resident thought it was good to throw a Halloween party for everyone but you couldn't join since you had to do your job as the doorman but you always decorated your little office with pumpkins and such to get into the spirit

But this year starting on October you started your shift as normal but the D.D.D stopped you before you started your shift since you were sorting out your desk

"the residents will change for the month only and you will be letting them in as they are they are not doppelgangers" he spoke out as you nodded understanding him since you haven't looked at the new list yet so you looked around and realized you didn't have a list at all

"I understand would there still be doppelgangers around so I know if I have to look out for them?" you asked as he slipped the new list in the slot but you didn't look at it just yet since you just held the paper

"yes but I would advise you to stay in your own apartment till we say otherwise" he added making you frown a bit due to Francis but nodded in understanding since they did give you your paycheck every week which was $500 which was due to liability risks and such

"so would...will I need new files?" you asked after thinking a bit for how to word it as he nodded and gave you the new files for the new residents

"they can be a bit rude so don't take that into being a doppelganger its just how they are" he spoke out so that you know their attitude as you nodded in understanding before looking at the list and saw a few that freaked you out but shrugged a bit since you've seen worse doppelgangers

When you looked up to see the D.D.D guy he was already gone making you scramble a bit to get organized before the first one came in so you didn't take really long to process them

"greetings mortal" the resident came through and you looked at him for a bit since he was an elephant god

"Arnold?" you questioned to yourself quietly as you grabbed the paperwork from him and went to check his details to make sure it was the right person

After 10 minutes you let him in unsure if you were right while replied with "finally" making you huff slightly annoyed as you watched him leave

"I'm the only thing keeping you alive Arnold!" you exclaimed from your booth before sitting back down in your chair in a huff but sighed and continued knowing this is what you signed up for when you took this job

As you went through you had called people from what you knew them to be beforehand and hardly noticing the details change unless you see Hoon guys and such from the original residents you knew they were fake but you had met a clown who wore a big creepy smile

"who the fuck are you?" you asked backing up in your chair slightly scared, it's not that you were scared of clowns you don't mind them it's the fact that it was Halloween and he could kill you if he wanted too

"do you want to play a game with me?" he asked as he held a pack of cards with him

"fuck no" you replied as you called the D.D.D and they came to the scene but when the shutters came back up you relaxed until you saw the head of the D.D.D on a pike

"the cleaning process has been done bla bla bla" the clown spoke out before clearing your desk and gave you some cards before explaining the process to you on how to play making you more scared to who the hell the clown was

After finally understanding the game you started to play and won a few games before he called it quits and left after threatening you but you didn't mind it since you knew he was now gone and the shutters came down before you got your evaluation

This went on for a week slowly missing your Francis but you knew that Yog was the closest thing you had to him but you knew that he shared a room with so you now knew why you couldn't stay with him

But one night was different since you did your normal shift after meeting some VIP's and some ghosts you met a hooded figure who gave you a random piece of paper with a bunch of letters and words written in capital letters 'DON'T TRUST THEM' making you confused but conversed on what they meant and got loads of information out of it which you soon came to the realization of what was happening but you went to your room after some slow walking since you were reading your eval as you did so as well as the creepy note that the guy gave you

You walked into your room to see Yog sitting on your couch but you ignored him since he reminded you too much of Francis even though you knew it was his nightmare version as the D.D.D called them and because they told you to not talk to them outside the booth

"can I stay the night here? Or am I not allowed?" he asked as he watched you intently but you ignored him in a huff since they said you let a doppelganger in when you didn't

"how the fuck did I miss that his nose was the fucking same" you exclaimed after a bit motioning to the doppelganger that was copying Barbatos but according to them it was different but you sighed and threw it to the side of the counter not caring if it got on the floor

"bad day at work?" he spoke out trying to make conversation but was still being ignored so he went to the door upset so you sighed and wrote something down I annoyance and threw it on the floor

"do what you want I don't care but I can't talk to you since I'm not working in my booth but I'm giving you the warning now so..." you spoke out as you turned to him with a small smile

Yog nodded in understanding before going back into the room and sat on the couch and you both sat together in silence just enjoying each other's company while he talked about himself and his life in general since you didn't know about him

You assumed he was here for the Francis' side of him wanting and or missing you so you didn't judge it too much but you took what you got since you couldn't exactly tell him to leave or anything

When the month was over and you didn't realize since the days blended together but as you started your shift you didn't notice anyone going in or out since you had to prepare for the night shift which came sooner than expected

When the residents came into the building from where they are you saw the papers coming through the slot and saw it was the normal residents since you didn't get told like last time for the change and you didn't bother registering the list since half the time some of the residents weren't even on it

"we've told you this multiple times we don't accept them type of people in here" you muttered unfazed by the normal doppelgangers moving to press the button for the alarm and then move to call the D.D.D

"am I not on today's list Y/N?" Francis spoke out confused making you stop your hand from pressing it and shoot your head up to see the person in front of you

"Francis?" you questioned as you looked him over unsure but was more shocked as you saw what you assumed was the actual Francis since you didn't check his papers yet

"yes as it says on my papers?" he spoke confused but chuckled a bit thinking this was a new form of fun you were trying to create for your boring job

After you checked him over and made sure it was actually him you let him through but you got up out of the booth and crashed into him hugging him tightly making him chuckle more as he hugged you back

"I missed you so fucking much" you whispered into his chest making him smile warmly at you as he wrapped his free arm around your waist while the other was holding his milk box

"Y/N I was only gone for 5 hours you're not normally this hyperactive when I come back from work" he replied seeming having no memory of what you had to endure for the moth of Halloween

"guess I just feel extra clingy today" you muttered before pulling away and looking up at him with soft eyes since you now realized he didn't having any memory before going back to your booth thinking that he was too tired to deal with you now

When you got back into your booth you locked the door and you started to change your stuff around quickly via the files and such before continuing your shift with a new pip on your step as you knew everything was back to normal and you didn't have to deal with the god-awful clown again and deal with another Chester quiz that you only got halfway through which annoyed you a bit but you didn't mind

A few days of the normal people and doppelgangers had come back you hadn't been sleeping very well as you were getting nightmares from the last month which made Francis wake up every time you shot up from your slumber the D.D.D had recommended a psychiatrist for it and they brought William Afton to your apartment

"you stay the fuck away from me asshole!" you exclaimed as you backed away from Afton when he came into the apartment with his fiancé

"Y/N I'm here to help you" William spoke out as he walked towards you but you backed away from him making him stop in his tracks

"I rather go to Orcus Dis Pater than your fat ass" you spoke out as you glared at him

"who?" he questioned confused

"Y/N babe calm down just listen to him" Francis spoke out as he walked towards you calmly while Afton stood with his fiancé confused as he watched you

"I rather die and be six foot under than talk to him he's the reason we have the doppelgangers Francis he works for them he makes them" you tried to reason with him but no one believed you since they looked at you like you were mad

"I don't make the doppelgangers why would I want to endanger you guys you are my friends" he spoke out making you glare at him then Francis

"if you don't believe me Francis then I'm going to live in my own apartment where I know I'm going to be safe and away from him" you spoke out as you slowly walked away from Francis and made sure to stay away from Afton as you walked to your bedroom and packed your clothes and belongings that you had over at his apartment

When you were done you were moving to the front door being away from Afton who walked away from you so you could leave safely in your mind before going back to the first-floor room that was 2 doors down from your office

Even after you knew what Afton was the doppelgangers were nicer to you since you didn't like their creator so they didn't lash out at you as much as they normally do when they were discovered but you have noticed Afton giving you the cold shoulder and the D.D.D people had been a bit harsher but didn't lower your pay

Francis and everyone else in the apartment block didn't believe your theories but didn't treat you any different than normal they just didn't trust you as much because you were turning on one of the residents which you were tempting to just kill when you had the chance but you assumed that they would just bring him back and get revenge on you so you let him in even though you didn't want to

You and Francis made up but that didn't stop your theories of Afton being the reason for all of this so you acted like you just dropped it but kept the running theory to yourself and ready to kill him when the time was right you just hoped that the doppelgangers let you live in return
