Din Djarin | Getting Supplies
dunno what's gotten into me. watching the acolyte somehow sparked my din hyperfixation again? star wars = din at this point
also noticed how i didn't even specify the dynamic the last two chapters, because at this point there's no other way for me to write din anymore (he's a dad.)
-----------------------------------------
The Razor Crest was docked on a peaceful planet for a few days of much-needed rest. Din was busy fixing some minor issues on the ship while you were engrossed in a small project of your own – building a model starfighter from a kit you had picked up at the last market.
"Careful with that piece", Din called out, noticing you struggling with a particularly delicate part. "It's fragile."
"I got it", you replied, tongue sticking out in concentration as you carefully snapped the piece into place.
Din walked over, crouching down beside you to inspect your work. "Looks good. You're getting better at this."
You beamed up at him. "Thanks. I like building stuff."
He nodded, a hint of a smile in his eyes. "Good, it's important to have hobbies. Keeps you sharp."
Just then, a soft chime sounded from the control panel. Din stood up, checking the readout. "Looks like we need to pick up some supplies. Want to come with me?"
You jumped up eagerly. "Can I? Really?"
"Of course. It'll be good to stretch our legs." He ruffled your hair affectionately. "And you can help me pick out the best fruits and vegetables."
As you walked through the bustling marketplace, Din kept a watchful eye on you, his hand resting protectively on your shoulder. He let you choose some of the items, guiding you with gentle suggestions.
"That one's a bit overripe", he said as you reached for a fruit. "Pick one that's firmer."
You nodded, selecting a better option. "Like this?"
"Perfect", he confirmed.
Later, back on the ship, you helped Din prepare dinner. He taught you how to cut the vegetables the correct and safe way, his hands guiding yours with patient precision.
"You're doing great, kid", he said, handing you a piece of fruit to taste.
You chewed thoughtfully, "it's good."
He smiled, satisfaction in his voice. "Yeah, it is. You did good today."
As you sat down to eat, you felt a warm sense of accomplishment. Din's quiet, steady presence and his gentle guidance made you fell safe and cared for. He wasn't just a protector, he was your mentor, your guide, and most importantly, your dad.
