Writing prompt-

And then all of sudden she changed.
She came back a completely different person
with a new mindset, a new outlook,
a new soul.
The girl that once care way too much
about everyone and everything
no longer cared at all.

"And then all of sudden
she changed.
She came back a completely different person
with a new mindset, a new outlook,
a new soul.
The girl that once care way too much
about everyone and everything
no longer cared at all." The soft voice whispered to her twin daughters.

"But why? She should not change her personality for anyone." The blonde girl said. "You were the one who said this, mum."

"Ironically that is just the phrase, she never changed. All she did was start showing her true self."

"How do you know?"

"Because..."

SUNDAY 10:12 P.M.

"Come on Shelly and Milly, time to bed. No arguments."

"Just a min, mom," the blondie answered back her eyes focused on the screen hands operating a red controller "I am going to win."

"Only in your dreams Milly," the brunette retorted, her hand too occupied with an identical blue controller.

"See Noah! I told you we should have banned the video games!" She crossed her arms and was glaring to her husband who was dragging his bags towards the front door for his four-days business trip, "They are just like you! All times video games, video games and video games."

"Okay girls tomorrow is a big day. It will be your first day at high school," the masculine voice spoke, "Don't annoy your mom and sleep else along with you I will also get punishment."

"Yes preciously, we both that know even when you are now the father of two 14 years olds you still play video games!" She said rolling her eyes, "I am telling you -"

She was cut off as his hands gripped her waist tugged her closer and silenced her with his lips. It was a short kiss. They were now used to lot less PDA as their daughters were generally nearby.

"No video games after 8, got it?" He turned his head towards his daughters. They were twins still both looked way different. Milly had blonde hair like her mother with her dad's brown eyes and Shelly was brunette like her dad with green eyes of her maternal grandfather.

They were protesting while coming towards their dad but he simply hugged them both and muttered, "Until I am back." He winked.

"I heard that Noah!" He could hear his wife complaining but without looking he knew she was trying to hide her smile without having to turn around.

He gave her a sly smirk and hugged her, kissing her temple.

"Bye ladies, we will meet after four days." He was out of the door when their mother ushered them into the bedroom.

They both had a single bed on either side of the room. Shelly's side had everything red with a couple of posters of Football League. While Milly's side was jet black with posters of her favourite singers.

Their mother entered the room when they both were lying on bed ready to sleep.

"So who wants to hear a story?" Their mother asked with a smile on her face clearly telling them she has something to share.

Shelly and Milly looked and each other from across, communicating with their eyes and failing to comprehend what their mother wanted to do.

"You have not told us stories since we were 8," both of them said together and giggled.

Her mother said nothing as she dragged the black chair from Milly's side to the middle of the room and sat on it.

"Well do you know why today is different?" without waiting for their answer she continued her voice now a pitch higher making it scarry, "Today there are only three of us. I will show you my true ambition, I have been waiting for a long time too." She paused.

By now both of them were wide-eyed, standing on their beds. Shelly even bent down and came with an umbrella in her hand. Only she knows why she has kept it under her bed.

"TO DO THIS." She switched on the flashlight that none of them had noticed until now on her face, illuminating her deep blue ocean eyes.

Both of them screamed, while their mother was busy cracking up.

"Oh..oh..m-my Gosh!" Her hand on her mouth trying to stop he bubbling laughter. Keyword trying. "I am telling you, your brain is going you explode by playing video games continuously. Next time use something sharper, Shelly.

"Not funny, mom" Shelly replied narrowing her eyes before keeping the umbrella away.

"It was actually," Milly said also chuckling.

"Now on the serious note, I know you are both my big girls and with that, you both have more responsibility and choices.

"What do you mean mom?" Mill pinched her expression.

"This is the story of a girl. She was bullied in her high school never did she tried to fight it. It was not like she let everyone have their way with her. No, she just chose to keep silent. She chooses to fight reality with silence. Sometimes that works but sometimes it does not. In her case, it never did. Shyness can sometimes change your personality. We all underestimate shyness. Hidden behind the curtain of pretend-ness she shied herself away from reality. She was always at bliss but reality gave her cheque and she went spiralling down in the storms. It took time, but with enough amount of patience, she was back and this time it was real. No pretending. Only sharp truth."

Shelly was deep in thought, her brows drawn together, "Huh?"

"I did not even get a single word."

"Someday you will, but for now I just want you to remember, go with your instincts. If you want to fight silently or whether you want to voice your opinion. Because in a way we can not avoid a fight, we fight every day in our head, with our loved ones, let be a small argument, what we need to choose is how to embarrass it- silently, sink to their level lot, voicing your beliefs fearlessly. Neither of them is wrong, just remember to choose with responsibility.

"Okay?" Milly said.

"What happened to the girl? Shelly asked curiosity lacing her voice.

"And then all of sudden
she changed.
She came back a completely different person
with a new mindset, a new outlook,
a new soul.
The girl that once care way too much
about everyone and everything
no longer cared at all." The soft voice of their mother whispered to her twin daughters.

"But why? She should not change her personality for anyone." Milly pointed out, "You were the one who said this, mum."

"Ironically that is just the phrase, she never changed. All she did was start showing her true self."

"How do you know?"

"Because I was the girl."
