It may be terrifying, it may sometimes be vile, but there is something about the macabre, something that keeps us reading and writing about the darkness. 

'The Glamour of Grotesque' is a contest for those of you who write Horror, Gothic, Paranormal & Thrillers ( and any sub-genre in between ). This is a chance to get out all your creepy characters and bring them to life. Even if you have not written anything having to do with these genres, you are still welcome to take part and try your luck with them. Muses are sometimes kind.  

I shall start this contest once no fewer than 20 people have entered. There will be 5 parts in all with 4 people being eliminated at the end of each of the 4 parts. At the end, there will be 3 winners. The 3rd and 2nd prize winners will get a shout-out on my wall (and twitter), and the 1st place winner will get a signed copy of my book 'Goblin Garden', which is a collection of dark, Gothic-style poetry and prose.

Once (at least) 20 people have joined the contest will begin. Details on what you will be writing will be given at the start of each challenge. Though most of the challenges will be short stories, for the first 2 challenges you WILL have the chance to write a poem if you prefer.

Word counts will run from 100 words to 5000 for all parts, so everyone can write a length they feel comfortable with. I'll be giving everyone 1 1/2-2 weeks between each prompt to create.
