His back was turned to me, his hands shooting around the desk to grab items he needed. It was incredible how well he could multitask. He could grab ingredients for complicated spells while holding a conversation easily. He was incredible.
"Taia, do I often hid what I'm thinking?"
No. He didn't.
"No, I just don't know why you refuse to have this conversation."
If I had aggravated him in anyway, he didn't show it. Typical. If someone had said that to me so would have turned on them in a second. But no, classic Ryder behavior said that nothing was to provoke emotions. All he ever showed was a slight smile, a neutral stare, and a frown.
"We're having the conversation now. I've given my answer. You'll just have to accept it as what it is or voice your opinions elsewhere."
"You and I both know that that will get us nowhere. And besides, no one else is on your side except all the girls who think you're so unoccupied at night."
No one thought he was free at night. Too many people had gotten warnings that he was off limits or preoccupied. I had never said anything myself, but other people had informed the hopeful.
And here he was denying that there was anything between us.
