Dreams & Stories

As young as learning to walk,
my parents had taught me how to dream.
They shared with me stories of
beautiful worlds, and of wonderful people.

These stories showed me adventure
and taught me everything I know.
They were one of my only solaces
In a world that did not make sense

As young as learning to play,
my sister had taught me how to imagine.
She and I used to play pretend together
and get lost in the stories we've seen.

I learned these stories need not be so far
For we could be part of them whenever.
At times of my loneliness,
that's where I would be.

As young as struggling in school,
my love had taught me how to write such stories.
They shared me with such poetic words,
I couldn't help but fall in love.

I believed these stories could be real
and dreamt of one where we were together
That's where I learned our lives were stories
and vowed I'd try my best to write my own.

As old as graduating college,
Life has taught me the world isn't very kind.
Its complexities seem endless,
while every nice thing has to end.

Burdened by life's weight,
I find myself without hope.
I dream in stories,
and I'm too tired to pick up the pen.

And yet,

perhaps, I've learned to live instead.

A/N: This is just me talking to myself sooo don't mind me. I don't think this poem is very good but I don't really have the time to sit and make it better so I'm just putting it out there. Who knows, maybe I'll revisit and write it better someday, with more points of reference. Besides, I don't think sitting and brainstorming poems are gonna make me better at writing them, actually writing them will. And no one but Tahia_colour and safwanislam111 reads these anyway so what does it matter really if they are good or not lalalalalalala
