All Because of a Boy

She wishes to cling to him like mud clings to a shoe.
Her skin holds a ghostly hue.
She's basically a life sized toy,
all because of a boy.

She refuses to move from her bed.
Depression swivels through her head.
Why wasn't she good enough for him?
Why did he leave her on what seemed like a whim?

A tub of ice cream rests on her thighs.
Her only happiness now is what money buys.
No longer can her heart offer love,
when it's been discarded with a shove.

One too many people have hurt her.
With their kindness they lure,
and with their evilness they cause pain.
Was it all just a game?

Tears stick to her cheek.
She couldn't stand up, she was too meek.
But now, her heart has morphed into stone.
She stands up, preparing to be forever alone.

She doesn't need a boy.
She doesn't want to be a toy.
Tall and proud, she grabs her car key.
Now, at school she will be.

No longer will she hide.
No rules of boys will she abide.
She'll show them her stronger side.
For once, she has let herself decide.

She steps into the halls.
Chatter and laughter bounces off the walls.
Her friends rejoice at the sight.
Her depression had given them a fright.

She was glad to have friends like them.
Each one was a gem.
Smiling, they saunter off to class.
A few of her exes they pass.

She pays them no mind.
They aren't very kind.
They don't deserve her attention,
Nor her affection.

So, I wrote this. I haven't written poetry in a while, so I thought I'd write some today. Thoughts?
