Ok,hear me out.I always think of Stan in his childhood as Mabel but a dude (sorry xanderwrites)reckless and scared to grow up.Plus probably abused by his dick of a father.

   But,as a grown man,he has been throught hell.Just imagine losing everything but your car and the clothes you have on.He had to scam poeple so he had to eat.Run from the police so he would still have his car.And,after I saw a fanart,I think that he was in a lot of thight spots.Like being locked in his own car trunk,because he didn't pay up.Or being so scared of someone that he slept with a bat at his bed foot.The worst part is that,as an elderly,he still wanted to make a fortune,just so he can go back home.

   But,after the hole 'Ford thruogh a portal'incident,he was actualy at his lowest.He couldn't sleep for days on end..As Ford's twin,he could be mistaken for him,so he took his life out of necesity.He opened the Mystery Shack so he could have money and use his scaming skills.But,most of all,if you have an large enough imagination,you can see that in one of the photos in "A tale of two Stans", Stan has some physics,math and other school books on a shelf.While a lot of people think that those are left-behinds of Ford,I think that Stan thought himself high-level physics so he can get Ford back.

   I can imagine him in Ford's ba-sement,pissed that something didn't make sense,but still going because it was for Ford.

   Then there's his relationship with Dipper.He saw himself in him,and remembered the times he was bulied out of his head.So he helped him become a man and stand up for hims-elf and others.Now,at the final,when Bill offered him ANYTHING IN THIS WORLD,he refused,because he got what he wanted.He got to be loved,have a family,be usefull for once and te be respected.
