The first theory/explanation I have is about Dumbo!! Many have made fun of this poor little elephant, but trust me, I think I know why he has large ears.

So, we all know how the babies in this movie are delivered by Pelicans? Well, even if they are, I think Dumbo's large ears came from his father.

Since his mother is an Asian elephant, they have smaller ears, and a circus elephant, his father must be an African circus elephant!! African have larger ears than Asian elephants. So that might be why Dumbo has very large ears. Even if they are delivered by Pelicans.

An African elephant. Might not be as big as Dumbo's, but they are bigger than Asian elephants.

And this is an Asian elephant. See how small their ears are?! This is a very good theory of why Dumbo has a large ears!!
