There's only one way I imagine 682 falling into despair and becoming a remnant of despair.

Imagine. 682 being forced to watch his friends and family brutally die. All of them begging for help....and he's unable to do anything, and being forced to watch the brainwashing video at the same time.

And then...Rosie. She's slowly tortured to death in front of his eyes.

682 now has NOTHING to live for, so it's safe to say he's already half crazy. But the video is what truly drives him over the edge.

To him now, Hope is disgusting.
