Poem: Would You?

Would You?

If I didn't entertain you every time we spoke
And I didn't keep my problems hidden from your eyes
If I didn't apologise for every time I did wrong to you
And I wasn't always the nice person every person should be
If I were to go on and on
About the thoughts running through my mind
And if I were to spill my heart to you, hoping you won't mind
If I were to laugh like an animal
And make mistakes like a human being
If I were to embarrass you by being honest
And never do wrong when you asked me to
If I were to cry instead of smile
About things you wouldn't even pay attention to
And if I were to never pretend I'm perfect
Whilst never calling out on your flaws
If I were to write poetry about myself
Without being afraid of who reads
And if I were to tell you that inside
I'm afraid that you'll leave
If I were to never lie about myself
No matter how you may judge
And if I were to live life like it was just me and you on this earth
Ignoring the people we pass by each day
If I were to tell you how I feel
Hoping you won't silence me
And talk about my dreams
Without fearing that you would doubt my ability
If I were to tell you that inside I am so very weak
But I try my best to be the strongest I can be
If I were to talk to you in front of everyone
Saying things you would never say
Would you still stick around
Or would you be too ashamed to stay?
