I hear these harsh words
Stinging my ears and degrading my worth
I know you know you're hurting me
You know you're trying to kill me slowly

For once if we thought of someone else
And cleared our mind of our past self
If we gave people a chance despite
And did what we knew was right

If we put away our hateful feelings
Forgave people's evil doings
Became at peace with ourselves
And learned to guide our own lives

The world is harsh and I would know
But the darkness teaches you to cherish your own glow
Not to spread more in an act of revenge
Their last laugh does not mean it's your end

Stay strong despite what people say
It's you who decides your own fate
The last decision lands on you
If you give in it's you who let yourself lose

Think of what game you're playing
Is it them or is it yourself you're fighting
In the end it's about whether you are able to stand
Among the others who walk the same land
Whilst keeping yourself immune
To society's hypnotic tune

Being normal can save you sometimes
To hide you from their squinted eyes
Being special is so common now
People don't realise it's no longer a 'wow'

World peace is hardly possible
But we decide if it's truly impossible
Working towards it doesn't mean you'll achieve it
But trying helps you keep on believing

Being kind has become so rare
Since now we only care for our own share
So let's stop worrying about greatness
And spread a little kindness.
