2. Macbeth... or not?

This was PanicAtThePentaholic and I's project for Honors English. We had to rewrite Macbeth by Shakespeare in a different genre. We are wayyyyy too proud of this collab short. Enjoy!

Macbeth: The Terror of the Night
Part 1

It was a dark and rainy night. Nobody in sight but the weïrd sisters and their cult leader.
"Macbeth," one of the old hags spoke, "Who hath brought thou prophecies?"
"'Tis I," Another said, "The ritual knife for the blood of a hero." The sisters chuckled in agreement.
Macbeth, the only human in Scotland, crawled through the branches of darkness. Drenched by the rain, he stood up and approached this ever-so trusted cult. "What say you, weïrd sisters?"
Lightning flashed through the sky and the terror of the night shone through the air. The second sister took her ritual knife and sliced into Macbeth's hand, drawing blood to fall into their cauldron. An explosion of smoke filled the space around them, and the sisters knew just what to say.
"Macbeth! Beware Duncan! He who drinks the blood of his enemies and runs from the stake attached to your pack!" a sister yelled, "Kill him, and rid us all of his evils. You must become the ruler of Scotland!"
"What must I do to gain this role?" Macbeth questions.
"All you must do is accuse the bloodsucker of his species, and stake him in his dreadful dead heart." they answered in unison.
Macbeth nodded, "I will do this deed. Only to rescue this diseased country." With this, he set off into the shadows once more.

Part 2

Macbeth walked into the Scottish kingdom, revealing a piece of paper and pen,
"My dearest wife,
I have been given the opportunity to save Scotland once and for all. I have discovered the Weïrd Sisters, a few hags that know a little about my future now that I have given some of my blood. I will keep you informed of my whereabouts, but I must end the life of our fearful vampired ruler. I will be home soon.
Your beloved husband"
Macbeth gave a messenger the parchment after using a potion to make the ink invisible until it hit Lady Macbeth's hands, "Take this to my wife, Lady Macbeth. She shall find it most helpful."
The messenger nodded and went on his venture to to Macbeth household.
Once the paper touched Lady Macbeth's hands, the smeared ink revealed itself to her. She read through the letter, "But great Glamis... Duncan is no monster..."
That night, Macbeth snuck into the castle of Duncan, wooden stake sheathed in his belt. The guards knew him, he was greatly honored in the kingdom. They allowed him passage through the corridors.
"I will get my vengeance..." Macbeth mumbled quietly as he crept through the halls. Upon reaching Duncan's bedroom, he slowly pushed the door open, just enough for him to slip into the room. When he knew he was alone, he grabbed his wooden stake and stabbed Duncan in the heart, silencing him. He searched the king's teeth and found no fangs.
Turning around, Macbeth was tackled to the ground. The true vampires were the guards. He gasped, quickly grabbing his stake and stabbing them both. He sprinted out of the castle and made his way home, immediately greeted by his wife.
"Macbeth!" Lady Macbeth shouted, "Did you do this deed? Duncan is not a monster, I had to warn you!"
Macbeth's face dropped in utter terror, "I have already done this deed! Must you be dreadfully late?"
"Thou hast it now. Glamis, and soon to be king. You will rid this country of doom." Lady Macbeth turned and walked out, only to be greeted by a snooping Banquo.
"What have you done? You've killed the king!" Banquo ran off, shifting into his werewolf form.
"Yet another monster roams. I must get to him quickly." He sent out a summons to his good friend.

Part 3

"A monster is a danger. We must kill Banquo." Macbeth told two murderers, who were peasants.
"What has he done that needs betrayal?" one asked.
"He has only done the worst you could think of. Tis his fault the kingdom is sick. This disease will only be cured if he is gone."
"Will do..." the peasants spoke reluctantly.
As they left, a third person emerged from the shadows, "Why, there's already blood on your face!" Macbeth yelled.
"'Tis Banquo's then" The man spoke.
"I have just sent out two peasants to do this deed, why have you done this?"
"I came to warn you. The family of Macduff, they are conspiring against you. As Macduff is the Godfather, Lady Macduff is the Mafioso, and their son blackmails. They will surely end your newly-found reign if you let them free."
"So be it." Macbeth spoke, "You must go after them too."
Later, the Third Murderer crept through the kingdom of Fife, ready for his plans to be finished.
"What are you doing here?" Lady Macduff asked.
Her son ran into the room, protective of his mother, "Intruder!" He yells.
Guards came into the room, and the murderer shouted, "What, you egg!" he slaughtered them all, "Now I can use the werewolf's blood and the blood I have just spilled for my ritual."
He looked around, "However, Macduff has left for his coven meeting." He fled the scene.

Part 4

Macbeth looked around the scene quickly. Everyone was here at the banquet and they were ready to feast.
However, Macbeth looked around and saw a spectral vision of Banquo. Out of guilt, he yelled, "Why have you come! There is a ghost in my castle!"
Everyone gasped, there has not been a ghost in Scotland for years. But, nobody saw the ghost. They looked around. The tension and suspense throughout the room grew as they searched for the ghost.
"He's not crazy! This man has returned!!" Lady Macbeth yelled.
Everyone screamed and ran away in terror.
"I must go!" Macbeth yelled as he fled, ready to see the witches once more.

Part 5

Macbeth hurried through the shadows, ready for his next set of prophecies, "What say you, Weïrd Sisters?" he questioned quickly, fearfully.
The ghost of Banquo appeared again, "Macbeth! Beware my son, Fleance... he will be the one who brings your end..."
"Impossible... I didn't know Banquo had a son..." Macbeth said in a fearful sweat
The ghost of Duncan appeared, "No human shall ever harm you Macbeth. That is a promise."
"Aha! I have killed all of the monsters in the kingdom!" Macbeth said, oblivious.
The ghost of Lady Macduff appeared next, "Macbeth... You shall never lose power until the next full moon rises!"
"Wait... that's in a week! What shall I ever do?" Macbeth said, snapping out of the obliviousness. He ran back to his castle.
Hecate moved out of the shadows, "You can no longer do this! Macbeth is an innocent being. Our cult leader cannot keep pushing us all around like this, we must fight back!"
"We cannot do that, Hecate," One of the sisters spoke, "We need to listen to his orders or we will be in trouble."

Part 6

The full moon rose as Fleance shifted into his werewolf form. He howled and sprinted to the castle.
Back at the castle, there was a bloody issue "Macbeth..." Malcolm spoke from outside of the king's room, "Lady Macbeth is dead..."
    Macbeth sat upright quickly, "No..."
Fleance crept through his king's castle, ready to kill the one who had his father murdered.
Macbeth ran through the halls, going to the room of his wife. Fleance spotted him and attacked, using his claws to draw blood and end his life.
"'Twas the witches!" Fleance yelled as he shifted back into a human.
Malcolm took the crown from Macbeth's head, a part of the plan after all, "I thank you for your duties, Fleance. We offer you this, as we watch over you." Malcolm crowned Fleance.
"Thank you, and now we must meet in the forest, to stop our last problem."
A riot of people and monsters gathered, making their way to the forest. When they arrived, the cult was killed. A note was left, reading the following:
    "People of Scotland,
This isn't over. I will rule, as always meant to be.
        -The one who killed Banquo"
The only person who wasn't dead at the scene was the Third Murderer, who was on his way to the castle already.

The End
