Why I Love Yu-Gi-Oh
I have a short story to tell. I was on a discord Rp server just trying to enjoy myself when this guy started to talk about anime. The guy was basically insulting and very poorly summarizing Yu-Gi-Oh series and completely missing the messages of the series. The first season is about friendship (if you couldn't guess), 5d's is about social class systems, Arc V is about multiple personality disorders, and each story has it's own unique characters with their own stories and goals of their own. So to basically say that 'card games' defines all of the series is like me saying that Code Geass is about boring politics. I love Yu-Gi-Oh because of the characters, all of them. Yuya Sakaki always manages to put a smile on my face when I watch him duel. Yusei Fudo is such a relate able main character. Jaden Yuki is so upbeat it's contagious. Yuma Tsukumo reminds me of when I first started playing the game, someone with potential to get better. Just dismissing the series off by saying 'it's a kid's show' just shows how much of a child you are. I'm not saying you have to be a Yu-Gi-Oh fan, but if you expect people to hear your point of view on a series, be open to listening to other people's point of view.
