BUNNIES!!!!

I. Love. Bunnies. Almost as much as I love horses. And I have three bunnies. Hotdog, Gizmo, and Lilac.

Hotdog is something else. He's mental. He likes attention but doesn't cooperate long enough for you to give it to him. And yes his name is hotdog you didn't read that wrong. It was the name that came with him and it just stuck.

Gizmo is wild. He is absolutely insane and incredibly dumb. He likes to hop up into my shoulder and just sit there. This one time he hopped up onto my shoulder and he jumped down and crashed into the carpet. It was pretty hysterical.

Lilac hates everyone. She doesn't like being fed, she doesn't like having her cage cleaned, she doesn't like being given water, she doesn't like being held, she doesn't like the fair, she doesn't like other rabbits, she just hates everyone and everything. But I think deep down she can somewhat kinda maybe tolerate breathing the same air as me.

For some reason WattPad won't let me upload the pictures of them so... Hotdog is a brown Holland Lop, Gizmo is a black Mini Rex, and Lilac is a pearl Netherland Dwarf. Google them if you want to get an idea.

You're probably asking, "What's it like owning a rabbit?" Or maybe you weren't, I don't know. I can tell you though.

Owning a rabbit is like having a toddler that gets spooked by everything. They rely on you to give them food (even if they don't want you to) and they rely on you to keep them healthy. Like any pet.

Ok let's get serious though. If you are going to purchase a rabbit I cannot express enough how much you need to do your research. Owning them is actually a lot tougher than it seems.

It's important to give your rabbit a spacious cage, toys, clean water, food and bedding. And if you're keeping your rabbits outside (me) and if you live in a place with insane winters (also me) it's important to give your rabbit straw and a place to get away from the cold.

It's also important to give your rabbit attention or some form of enrichment. If you never give your rabbit attention then they will actually become depressed and they will not eat. Sometimes it will get so bad that they starve themselves to death, so please please PLEASE hug your bunny. Rabbits aren't an animal that you can leave in the corner and never talk to. Even Lilac enjoys an ear rub now and again.

Giving your rabbit an adequate diet is just as important as giving them love. I feed my rabbits fiber-rich pellets with SLOW OATS. Not instant oats! Good, old fashioned slow oats. I also give them a mixture of alfalfa and timothy hay.

Giving healthy treats is important as well. Never ever ever feed your rabbit corn. Ever. It can cause blockages in the intestines and that's never good. I give my rabbits kale as a treat. The get excited when they hear the bag crinkle. I also give them fruits. They all seem to like bananas.

Finally, if you've got the breed and gender of rabbit in mind, and it's time to go and get your rabbit. I suggest NOT getting a rabbit from pet stores. There's a possibility that they were a part of the pet trade and you don't want to be supporting that. It's sad, I know.

I've gotten all of my precious, bratty buns from the fair. From kids in 4-H. You know that your rabbit came from a good home when you can physically see the person who took care of them all those months fighting tears as they hand you a fragile little animal.

My family has the numbers of all the people who we've bought rabbits from and they keep in touch.

So if you're cool with a little furry brat running around then do the research. Even though they are a pretty big responsibility rabbits are an absolute joy to have and care for.

So yeah :/. Thank y'all for reading :). Cheers, mate! I'm going to go watch JonTron now.
