The Broken Dove

Glimmers of happiness replaced with hardened eyes,
Open book truths replaced with cold lies,
Smiles of joy replaced by trembling lips,
Once alive words replaced by monotone scripts.

Labours of life scar under the skin,
Only revealed through acts of sin,
Red hot it drips down onto the ground,
Staining the lives of all around.

You lie to yourself you lie to your kin,
When did you let all this begin?
Some think it's a choice to act like this,
You know it's a curse; deaths own kiss.

You used to beg and plead for your life,
Now it's easier to just pick up a knife,
Cries of help lost in a sea of accusations,
You are left forgotten by all, even relations.

Hands shake at first but soon cease to move,
You knew you'd never learn to improve,
Only a fool falls for false words and lies,
Up into the sky another broken dove flies.
