Seras the Hotel Ghost

An original one shot

It was a cold winter night. Seras was wearing her usual icy blue ball gown as she touched up her hair, which hung in red ringlets with black tips before she slipped out of the room she had claimed for the past few years. While there were other rooms in the hotel that were notoriously haunted, Seras was shy around anyone that wasn't another ghost, and would hide elsewhere when her room was being used. This time, the place was all but deserted.

Seras made her way down the halls toward her favorite place in the hotel: the ballroom. She would come to the ballroom every other night, where she would sing and dance for as long as she felt. It was one of the few things that kept her sane in that place.

As she entered the ballroom, she saw the bartender cleaning the counter.

"What are you feeling this time?" The bartender asked her.

"That depends. Do you mean the drink or the song?" Seras responds.

"Both."

"Play Once Upon a December. As for that drink, I haven't decided yet."

The bartender nodded as the song began to play. As the intro started, Seras started to dance around as she sang.

"Dancing bears, painted wings, things I almost remember. And a song someone sings once upon a December. Someone holds me safe and warm. Horses prance through a silver storm. Figures dancing gracefully across my memory."

"Hey! Who are you?"

The sudden male voice brought Seras out of her fantasy as she stopped and turned to face the man, a look of surprise on her face.

"What are you doing here?" He asks.

Seras doesn't respond. Instead, she makes a run for the women's restroom, as the entryway for the ballroom was blocked by the man. She heard him calling after her, but thankfully he didn't follow her inside.

"You'll have to forgive Seras." She heard the bartender tell him. "She's quite shy around strangers, and isn't used to anyone other than myself in the room on nights like this."

"So wait, this is normal? How come I've never heard it before?"

"It is, and you're not the only one. Most people don't hear her this time of night. I can assure you she never means to cause any problems."

There was silence for a moment before the bartender called "He's gone, Seras. You can come out now."

She exited from her hiding spot and took a seat at the bar.

"Who was that?" She asked.

"He'll be staying here for a while. He's actually been here a few weeks."

"How did he see me? Usually, no one other than you guys see me, even when I'm not hiding."

"I think you and I both know the possible answers to that question."

"Either this place loves to screw with me, or he's one of them."
