Alice Lennox Trivia and Deleted Concepts
Hello all! With Alice Lennox completed, I thought I's share a little "Behind the Scenes" on the story.
Alice's last name, Lennox, is based on the character Mary Lennox from The Secret Garden. Her mother, Ella, got her name from one of my classmates in high school who played Mary in the show during my senior year.
Originally, Alice wasn't written to be Charlie's former babysitter. She was first written to be another one of the elves at the Pole. This was later changed to what it is now after deciding it worked better story wise. I also had no desire to make her Charlie's older sister since I saw nearly every other fanfiction doing that, and I wanted to do something different.
Alice also had two previous designs for her main look. Her first one had her in a short green dress with the red ribbon belt, white fur trim, red and white tights, green pointed shoes, and her red headband. Her second design saw her in a magenta dress with a sky blue trim, colorful bracelets and armbands, and the same tights, shoes, and headband. Her third and final design is the one seen on the cover.
Her charm bracelet was originally going to be magical and have some contribution to the plot, but I later decided not to do that.
The story was originally going to end after the second movie, but I ultimately decided to add the third, as I felt Alice would need to contribute to the plot. However, I was also concerned that her role in the story would have ended the movie's plot too quickly. This is why I had Jack freeze her, so the story could keep moving.
Also, Laura and Neal are replaced by Ella in the third movie because I didn't want to have three people frozen by Jack.
The original concept for the third movie saw it carrying on as per normal with minor dialogue changes. Alice and Bernard would not have been present as Alice would have heard that her mother was not doing so well, and would have had to go home to check on her. A second concept saw Alice staying at the Pole with Bernard leaving to check on Ella, giving an explanation for his absence. this was then scrapped for the final version.
Also, they would occasionally visit Alice's hometown at Ella's request. This started after their wedding, when Ella was unable to be at the Pole for it. They went to Alice's hometown later that day so Ella could at least get pictures.
In the third movie's alternate reality, Alice is seen with Jack as 'the Mrs.' However, I never confirmed that she actually marries Jack. If you pay attention how I worded things, Laura tells Scott that Alice "got a job there," And Alice herself saying that she "was approached and was told that she was perfect for the role." While there are implications of her marrying Jack, there are also some that she is simply there as an actress. I did this because I wanted to leave it up to the reader to decide why she was there.
Regardless of which of the above happened, there was a reason Jack brought Alice up. He knew that Scott would try and find her and convince her of how things were supposed to be, so he made sure to find her first and bring her with him so he could keep an eye on her and make sure things stayed going his way.
Alice's red dress in the alternate reality is largely inspired by Betty's red dress in White Christmas.
Alice's pre-show opening song is Santa's Got a Brand New Bag by SheDAISY. This is not only Alice's favorite Christmas song, but mine as well. This song was also played during Alice and Bernard's wedding night for their first dance together.
And that's about it! Hope you enjoyed these little fun facts. Look out for my Evie story in the Descendants Collection!
