The Necklace

Hah, yes, I'm still alive. No, I'm not posting often again, I just wrote something and wanted to show it. Sorry, don't know when I will have the motivation to write more

Rosie sighed, walking silently around the garden. She was overwhelmed with stress with duties, her baby, and just everything in general. and the sun was not helpful, but the garden was the only place she could properly relax. She was just lucky Eric didn't have as many duties today as she would usually to care for the baby, and her daughter is somewhere training, making her free of anything to do for the next few hours. She sighs, fiddling with the two rings on her finger. The engagement ring, a small diamond on the center, a small rainbow reflecting on its clear surface, and the ruby ring, the latter glowing slightly. She honestly kinda wanted to remove the ruby ring but didn't want to bother dealing with a fin and being unable to walk for a few hours. She sighs, sitting down on the bench and just resting there. She could easily just sleep there, not think of anything and just relax. That was her plan honestly, just extra rest. She rested her head on someone's shoulder, about to pass out.

Wait-

Rosie yelped, staring at the newcomer. His hazel eyes stared at her in shock, his dirty blonde hair messy and his clothes dirty as well. He looked like the village people, who were poor and deserved more than they got. The man stood up, backing away from Rosie.

"I-I-I"m so sorry! T-They just told me to come in, a-and y-you came in, I thought I c-could sit with you, I-I'm so sorry-" He rambled on for a bit, panicked and worried.

"I-It's ok! If they let you in, I'm sure you didn't mean any harm!" Rosie said nervously, the man slowly calming down. She didn't want to worry him too much. "Is there anything you need help with?" She tried her best to give a comforting smile to the man*

"W-Well, I-I heard it was your birthday soon your majesty! A-And I thought o-of giving you a gift..." He rubbed his arm a bit, still very much nervous.

"Now? That's... sweet of you. But you didn't have to! Besides, my birthday isn't for another month!"

"I-I know, I just thought I-I should d-do something as thanks! A-And I wanted to see your reaction...." The man grabs something from his pocket, holding it close to his chest as he takes a couple of steps towards her.

"Why, thank you... what is it you are giving me?" She looked at him confused before the man showed a small necklace around his hands. It was a diamond-shaped gold-painted plate, with a sapphire right in the center. Rosie's eyes widened as she stared at the necklace. She recognized it. Merfolk had those types of necklaces, she's sure of it. He shouldn't have that...

"O-Oh, wow! Where did you get this?" She slowly took it as he handed it to her, putting it on for the time being. She needs to bring it back.

"I-I found it b-by the beach! I just made a c-couple tweak with it!"

"What kind of tweaks?"

"Oh, nothing much, mainly polishing." He smiled a bit, gaining more confidence now. He eventually sat back down next to Rosie, Rosie fiddling with the necklace now.

"Why, thank you very much. I'll be sure to keep it safe.."

"I know you will. By the way, you're tired, aren't you?"

"Huh? What do you mean"

"I mean, with your duties, and the new baby- congratulations by the way- you're definitely tired. You can barely keep your eyes open." At those words, Rosie's eyes immediately start to droop, barely staying up. She shivered and got confused. This isn't supposed to happen. She wasn't this tired a second before. "But you don't close them. You keep them open, just for me." That was the only thing that was keeping Rosie from falling asleep, as she stared at the man, fear slowly creeping in.

"W-What are you-" She started, but was hastily cut off by the man.

"Ah, don't speak. Only speak when I ask you a question. And you will answer said question, whatever that may be." She starts to panic, about to stand up. "No, sit back down. You listen to me, do you understand?" She stops, before slowly nodding, sitting back down at the bench. She was scared now, she just wants to leave. She hated being controlled like this. The man smirked, scooting closer to her, Rosie being unable to getaway. "...You like this. You like me telling you what to do, telling you what to think." Rosie starts to struggle, as her mind process the words. Her brain considered them as truths. She did enjoy listening to him. "You like thinking of me." She didn't- but at the same time, she did. She liked thinking of him the entire time. The necklace started to glow a bit. "Actually, I'm the only person you know at the moment. You remember no one else. And listening is the only thing you're good at~" That is the only thing she's good at. She listened to her entire life. Her eyes started to shift colors a bit, but she couldn't tell.

"Now, let us get a few things over with...Close your eyes fully, and just rest. Ok?"

"Y-Yes..." She barely managed to nod before she closed her eyes, starting to fall limp as she rested her head on his shoulder once more.

"I promise, I'll make sure you're happy." That was all Rosie was able to catch before she was forced into darkness.

~One year later~

Enchantment after enchantment. Rosie keeps whispering a few words, in an unknown language of sorts, as the souls of humans and monsters alike get trapped in the items she has, the human body's falling limp while the monster's body simply dusts the moment their soul gets trapped. She stayed human during it, the only thing stopping her hands from getting burned. She doesn't know who she's trapping, and honestly, she doesn't care. Her eyes an icy cold blue, she marched on, not letting anyone near her beloved. Rosie just wanted to do what she was told. She loved it. Her mind doesn't comprehend all the people she hurt, how she trapped her own daughter, how she's about to trap, and maybe even kill her husband. She doesn't remember much about what happened during the past year, but she knows this is what everything she did lead up to. She slowly smiles as she walked into the throne room. Her beloved right behind her, with the weapon he's using to keep him in. She made sure it was special. Oh, how proud her beloved is going to be! That's all that matters. Her beloved's happiness.

Once the task has been done, her beloved will be happy, and she will be happy.

She sees her husband's mouth move, shouting probably. But she doesn't hear what. All she heard, was her beloved telling her to cast the enchantment. And that's exactly what she did.
