Memoirs of Wonderland- Time waits for No-One

Cheshire Cat: Ah, good day to you, dear Hatter! You seem in a cheery mood this day, yes?

Mad Hatter: Quite Cheshire, quite! And a splendid day to you as well, my catty friend! What brings you to town today? An unbirthday perhaps?

Cheshire Cat: No no, nothing really. Just waiting for No-One in particular.

Mad Hatter: "No-One"?

Cheshire Cat: Oh yes, yes, No-One. But I expect No-one to show up. After all, Time waits for No-One, dear Hatter.

Mad Hatter: Oh? Do I know this No-One by chance?

Cheshire Cat: No-One knows No-One, dear sir. And the only person that knows No-One is Time. That's why Time waits for No-One see. But unfortunately, Time and No-One can never agree on a meeting place, and No-One has such a hard time finding their way to Time, so Time constantly waits for No-One to appear.

Mad Hatter: I see... Why does this Time wait for No-One, Cheshire?

Cheshire Cat: (shrugs) Who knows? A spot of tea? A matter of life or death? A job opportunity? The chance of a lifetime? No-One knows for sure. That's why they're always looking for Time, and Time must wait for No-One. Not unlike that rabbit friend you have tea with, dear Hatter. He is always looking for and to Time because he doesn't want to keep Time waiting like No-One does.

Mad Hatter: I must admit, I find that a rather admirable and enduring trait about that hare. He has never been late, not once. Shame this No-One fellow doesn't share such a trait.

Cheshire Cat: Ah, you can't really blame them. Time can be hasty and bad with giving directions. Always has been. And sometimes No-One, for the life of them, can't figure up or down of Time's words. That's why No-One waits for me, see.

Mad Hatter: Oh? You know this No-One?

Cheshire Cat: No-One knows No-One. They merely just ask me to meet them to help them find Time. Truth be told, I expect No-One to show up. They're just as bad at directions as Time can, so me and they never seem to quite meet up as they wish. And truth be told again, it's a relief really.

Mad Hatter: Is it now?

Cheshire Cat: Quite. See, No-One comes to me in hopes that I have some knowledge of Time. Where Time goes, where Time has gone, when it returns, when it runs out on them. But No-One knows Time better than Time itself. I may know a many great things, but even I knows not of Time. Even if No-One comes to see me, what could I possibly tell them? That Time is just around the corner, waiting for them? That Time is taking a lunch break at its favorite eatery and wants to introduce you to the CEO? That Time wants to speak with you one last time before you're stuck on your death bed? Who am I to know those things about Time, an entrepreneur of life's great schemes? At the very least, I might lie and give No-One the wrong words. At worse, I might disappoint No-One in my not knowing any more about Time than they do. Fortunately though, No-one never seems to find me, even on clear days as this. But that only means Time still is left to wait for No-One, and No-One may always seek me out for answers.

Mad Hatter: My my, what a dilemma No-One and Time has. What a dilemma you may seem to have Cheshire. I don't suppose there's anything I can do to help, is there?

Cheshire Cat: Ah, no need friend, no need. No-One may never find their way to me- or anyone else quite as knowledgeable as I for that matter- but they are always persistent to meet with Time. And Time, while very difficult to deal with at times, is very patient. Why do you think it waits as often as it does for No-One? It knows they will find it eventually, so it waits and gives No-One every opportunity to find it and themselves. What waits for No-One once Time is done waiting and No-One finds them? No-One knows. But you see, that is why No-One goes looking for Time. That is why Time waits evermore for No-One. And why I expect No-One to come see me, dear Hatter.

Mad Hatter: I see... I think...

Cheshire Cat: Speaking of waiting, isn't your spot of tea with the old rabbit coming around again, sir?

Mad Hatter: Is it? (Checks his pocket watch) My word, it is almost around again! How time flies!

Cheshire Cat: No no, not flies. It's how Time waits for No-One, Hatter. Kekeke... Well, I won't hold you up much longer, dear friend. After all, you know how that old cottontail is about Time. Besides, I expect to see No-One soon. Cherrio, Hatter!

Mad Hatter: Good day Cheshire... Time and No-One, No-One and Time... Oi, that cat sure has a way with words. Make a man's head spin like a weasel in a beehive. 😥
