The Greedy Fool
Gabrielle Oak was the prettiest girl born, at least on the out side, but on the inside she was ugly as sin. She was jealous of noble men and women because she thought with such beauty she should have elegant garment, and and more money than her husband, a petty excuse of a clerk in the ministry of education, could ever make. One day her husband Neal, brought a fancy invitation home. When Gabrielle noticed the gold colored letter, she scowled and threw it across the table. Neal couldn't understand his wife's dismay with the invitation to the ball.
The selfish woman, who thought she was better than everyone, complained she had no dresses veto wear. Neal sighed and gave her the 400 francs he had planned to buy a gun with. Gabrielle found an exquisite dress, but as the ball swiftly neared she became anxious since she had no jewels to wear. Her husband told her to go to her rich friend Lucy Heartfilia's house and borrow some jewels. Lucy had gladly given Gabrielle a wonderful diamond necklace.
All of the men at the ball loved the beautiful woman and they all danced with her until four in the morn. Once Gabrielle and Neal returned home, they found the jewels she had worn were gone. They looked all over for the diamond accessory, yet it was no where to be found. They took out loans to buy a new necklace and spent the next ten years working their fingers to the bone to pay off their 36,000 francs debt. Once they played back the money Gabrielle decided to tell Lucy the truth. The now scraggly and filthy woman went up to Lucy and told her the truth. Lucy laughed. "Oh honey, you should have told me, for it was merely a cheap imitation worth 500 francs!" She said as the greedy woman felt a fool.
