The Indelible Encounter

"The first vampire was a human named Ambrogio who began his life as a vampire. He was a Greek adventurer born in Italy who was brought to Delphi by fate."

"Are vampires exist?" One of the students impeded as the crowd was curiously looking at their professor, desperately wanting answers.

"Well," Professor McCartney said after a brief pause, "the vampire is generally held to be a fictitious entity in the recent era, according to Wikipedia. Although belief in similar vampiric creatures such as the chupacabra persists in some cultures," he concluded as he returned his attention to his presentation.

"Let's proceed. It all started with the sun god Apollo (Greek mythology), who cursed Ambrogio's skin to burn if he ever came into contact with sunlight again. Ambrogio's bad luck continued when he lost his soul to Hades, the god of the underworld in Greek mythology. The next curse came from Apollo's sister Artemis, the goddess of the moon and hunting in Greek mythology, who made Ambrogio's skin burn if he touched silver.

Ambrogio hunts swans and uses their blood as ink to write love poems to his lady Selene in the original vampire story."

"Why swan? He could have hunted a boar or a deer." Jerome interrupted as the whole class was devastated by his annoying question.

"He hunts swans to use their feathers as quills," professor McCartney replied eagerly, smiling as Jerome nodded.

"While this may seem creepy by today's standards, it wasn't uncommon in ancient Greece to make do with what you could find.
Ambrogio eventually returned to Italy as a full-fledged vampire. He is said to have founded the first Vampire Clan in Florence according to legend."

"Wow, I want to join the clan, I think it's kinda cool," Rupert exclaimed in excitement while flipping his pen on the table.

"What did you just say," asked Professor McCartney as his classmates are looking at him, puzzled.

His friend behind him, John, smacked him slightly on his head, "Stop it, crazy!" Jolted, he replied, "I'm not, vampires were real." Before they could even start a fight, the bell rings.

"Let's continue this tomorrow and don't forget your assignment," professor McCartney reminded while erasing the writings on the board as students started their way outside the room.

"What's gotten into you?" Asked John as they walked into the hallway.

"I already told you yesterday, they were real, I saw it," Rupert clamored with a serious expression. John with a disapproving look grabs Rupert's hand and dragged him out into the crowd of students and went to an open field.

"Look, I know what you saw because you told me that many times already, but..."

"I know they were real, vampires truly exist!" he interrupted in excitement. John silences him covering his mouth.

"You have to be careful not to disclose any information about them whether they were real or not," he warned him, gave him a sharp look, and led him outside the campus.

"If they're real, just stay out of it for you to be safe," John said as they waited for the bus to arrive.

"I'm telling you the truth, don't you trust me?" Rupert insisted but he ignored it giving him a cold stare.

"Okay, okay. I got you, I won't say a word to that," he ended.

Rupert stayed mute as they ride on a bus, dismayed but curious about John's reaction. John, on the other hand, was in his deep thoughts. Laura.

"Where are you going? It's past eleven pm." John's mother, Esmeralda, stopped him with raised eyebrows. She was busy inspecting due date bills on the table.

"Gotta go to Laura's house, I forgot to get my notes, I needed them now," he replied, giving his mom a quick kiss on the cheek and abruptly heading out of their house before she could even react.

"I'll use your car," he yelled.

"Don't drive too fast," he can barely hear his mom's words as he closed the car's door and drive off.
Laura's house is only four blocks away from them but he used his car instead of his bike. It was a cold evening as he headed towards a deep forest, feeling a little excited to see his crush but he suddenly stopped by a weird ominous sound. There were no other cars that passes, and the neighborhood seems deserted, so he felt a little disturbed by the noise. He turned off the radio and scanned the surroundings without getting out of the car seat as something landed on the roof and instantly jumped off, then ran out of the road. He didn't get to see much of the creature but he just concluded that it was a dog, a huge dog. Baffled, he immediately starts the engine and drives faster to Laura's house. It's nothing. He dialed her number as he steered the wheels. Pick it up. She didn't answer. It was just several minutes when he arrived and suddenly notice the mess on their lawn. There were broken pots everywhere and a damaged garden. Something happened. He hurriedly went straight to their house without knocking on the door. It's dark here. No one's at home for it was empty (he presumed) when he entered the house. He switches on the lights as he inspected the place but someone suddenly grabbed him from behind and switches it off.

"Shhhh,"

"Lau..." She covered his mouth and dragged him silently and slowly to the back door.

"Stay here," she commanded in a whisper with her sharp eyes. She instantly walked back inside. Puzzled and shaken, he clasped his hands. In a minute, he could hear shattered glasses, distorted sounds, and fearful shrieks from inside. What the...Curious about the scene, John slowly entered the house with an alarming feeling, and with those big eyes, he witnessed an event that only intensified his fears. Vampires and werewolves. He immediately hides behind the wall as these creatures fight with each other. Werewolves bolted outside the house while those vampires pursued them until they went off to a deep forest near the house. Am I crazy?. Trembled by the scene, John thought to just go home and forget what happened but someone held his hand. Jolted, he screamed. F*ck!

"You're a vampire!" He could see Laura's arms full of scratches and torn clothes, but no blood.

"You shouldn't be here, it's not safe," Laura's voice slowly diminished as he led him to his car.

"Let me drive you home," she then grabbed the key, shut the car's door, and start the engine. Hope they're fine. John stared blankly at Laura, bewildered.

"Yes, I am." She answered him upon noticing his gaze. "I'm so worried for my parents. I need to follow them after I sent you home." He can see her crying, but she's trying her best to hide it. John suddenly held her hand that was on the gear shift.

"Let's follow them now," he said abruptly. Laura's expression was surprised. "I'm serious, just explain everything after this," he said as she abruptly changed gears and drove into the dense forest. Growls could be heard from afar indicating a battle. Laura pondered.

"Let's pull over here," she said, turning off the engine, and they stepped out of the car. "I need you to stay inside, locked the door, and grabbed this gun, it's a silver bullet inside," she pleaded as John moved and took over the wheel.

"Be careful," he muttered as Laura gave him a faint smile and ran swiftly like a lightning. Amazing. He had no idea that the vampires and werewolves he had seen in movies were real. And the fact that his crush Laura is among them piques his interest even more. There was still a faint ruckus, which troubled him as he waited for their return. It was his first time holding a gun and it made him tremble. Slightly terrified, he wiped the sweat on his brows while grabbing his phone from his pants. Sh*t!

"What took them so long?" He murmured, scanning his phone.

"John, hurry, open the door!" He was startled by a voice outside, tapping the front door glass. It was Laura with his father carrying his wounded wife. John quickly open the door as three stepped in. "Go, go, go, to the house!" Yelled Mr. Lee while John panicked in rage.

"How did they know that we're here?" Asked Laura while applying some ointment to her mother's wound. John can see her worried face through the front mirror while her father was furious about the incident. He can still see their fangs and red eyes raging while he drives frantically.

"I don't know, but they've killed Richard's family without remorse after knowing that they've seen werewolves even though it's against their law to harm humans." His father answered. "I think they will make this town a bloody land so they wanted us dead for them to acquire their plan," he added. With a shocking truth, John interrupted, "The news said it was a wolf attack, I never imagined it to be a werewolf and not just a wolf." He pulled over upon arriving and they stepped out of the car and immediately entered their house.

"What would happen now? They're going to come back here with the pack," Laura said as they went to the living room, helping her mom to lie down on the couch.

"That's not a problem, we still have a month before they regroup," Mrs. Ruth said with a low voice, her wound was slowly recuperating as she slowly leaned forward to sit." We would contact all our allies and relatives to help, this will be a bloody war between werewolves and vampires."
Her father was in his deep thought sitting beside his wife, then after he notices John's presence, he blurted, "Laura, take John home, he shouldn't witness this in the first place, it's our fault."

"It's okay Mr. Lee, I'm a bit shocked about the truth but I promised I will never tell anyone," he said with a disturbed face.

"I know you're a friend of our daughter, but it's not safe for you to intercede. Werewolves are dangerous beasts especially if they know that you've seen them, they will not hesitate to kill you."

"But I already did," he responded in fear.

"Yes, but other werewolves didn't know that, we've managed to kill the beasts that saw you earlier. So, go home and leave this war between us." His father said with a concerned face.

"Let's go, John, I'll drive you home," Laura led him outside their house. She doesn't want him to be put in danger because even though she hadn't told him about her feelings, she can't deny that he loves John so much.

"So, that's it? I'll just stay silent and do nothing to help!" He blurted out of nowhere as they were heading out of the house.

"You can do nothing, John. You're only a human, you can't surpass their strength," she noticed him feeling down about her words. They immediately stepped inside the car and as Laura managed the wheels, John sighed.

"Fine, I understand. But, just call me if you need anything," he said, looking at an empty road.

"Aren't you afraid of us?" Laura asked with a disheartened voice.

"More on, curious. You already know I loved vampire movies and knowing you're one of them gives me an exciting feeling," John retorted with a smile as Laura said, "We're here," and pulled over. They stayed there for a while and Laura held his hand, John looked at her with concern.

"Thank you, but promise me to don't come to our house in the meantime until this war ended. That's the only way you will be safe."

"Okay, I promised," John said and after a few seconds of silence, he slowly kissed Laura on the lips without her consent. He thought Laura would react but she accepted his kiss and responded.

I hope she's doing fine. John thought as Rupert on his side was looking at him.
