Silver was finally going on to college so he wasn't going to be living with his parents. He had an on-campus "house" and he was going to have a roommate. Silver was somewhat worried about this roommate since he was gay and his roommate would be a guy. He was afraid of falling in love with them and then having to deal with bullying and/or harassment from his roommate for the rest of the year. 

Upon arriving at his new room, Silver let out a small sigh to calm his nerves. "C'mon Silver, you're going to be fine. It's going to be an amazing year!" He smiled before using his key on the door. The door let out a small creak and he peeked inside. "Hello?" He called out, closing the door behind him. 

"Hey. I'm guessing you're my roommate." Silver jumped at the sudden voice. It was deep and somewhat sexy. Silver blushed at his thoughts, clearing them. The voice came from the kitchen, where a hedgehog was standing in the doorway. The hedgehog was black with red stripes, not to mention taller than Silver. Silver's blush deepened and his eyes widened.

"Uh..." Silver quickly regained his composure. "I-I'm Silver, Silver the hedgehog." He held out his hand. The ebony hesitated before shaking his hand.

"Shadow." He replied simply. 'Shadow...' Silver thought. 'Dark and mysterious. How fitting.' Shadow gave Silver a weird look when Silver didn't let go of his hand, for Silver was too deep in thought. "Um, you can let go now."

"Oh! Sorry!" He exclaimed, quickly snapping  back into reality. His blush increased from his embarrassment. He looked away, his cheeks burning.

"Okay...anyways, how about I show you to your room?" The ebony started walking towards the stairs, not waiting for an answer. Silver rushed after the other. "I already chose mine." He said simply.

Once the two were finished unpacking, they decided to get to know each other. Silver sat on one side of the couch while Shadow sat on the other. "Silver, right?" The albino looked at the other and simply nodded. "May I ask why you're sitting so far away? Do I make you uncomfortable or something?" He gave a small smirk.

"W-well I...I g-guess..." Shadow scooted closer, his smirk getting bigger.

"How so?~" He asked, though it came out quite flirtatious. Silver thought he was just imagining it.

"D-do you always a-act like this?" Silver asked, completely disregarding the previous question. Shadow's smirk faded. 'Of course he had to crush my fun.' Shadow thought, sighing.

"Do you always turn completely red when you meet someone new?" Shadow shot back. Silver blushed heavily. He tried to respond, but he was so flustered, everything he said was just incoherent stutters. Shadow chuckled. "Well? Are you going to say something comprehensible, Tomato?" Silver's blush deepened, if that was even possible at this point.

"D-don't call me t-that!" He managed to get out. He huffed, puffing out his cheeks. Shadow couldn't help but find this adorable, a blush of his own lightly tinting his cheeks. Silver looked away from the other. Shadow took his chance to move closer to Silver, sitting directly next to the other, facing him despite the fact that the albino was looking away. Silver, however, was entirely aware that the other moved closer. He didn't mind, already quite fond of the other.

"So, what are you majoring in?" That sparked a long conversation. The two talked for quite a while, becoming more comfortable with each other as time went on.

Eventually, the two decided it was time to hit the hay. "Well, I'll see you tomorrow before I head to my first class." Shadow said with a small smile before heading to his room. Silver gave a little wave before heading into his own room and flopping onto the bed. He quickly fell asleep, worn out from all the conversing he did with Shadow. He had a smile on his face and closed his eyes, falling into a deep sleep, dreaming of Shadow.

Now, Silver was a particular case. He had telekinesis and could read minds if he had enough energy. Occasionally, his emotions could effect his powers. While sleeping, he unintentionally lifted up everything in his room with his telekinetic abilities. This wouldn't be the first time this has happened since Silver's been in love before.

The next morning, the sound of beeping awoke Silver. Since he was awake, everything he was unintentionally lifting up while he was sleeping hit the floor with a thud. Silver's eyes widened when he heard this. He turned off his alarm clock. "Oh no...exactly what I didn't want to happen happened!" He hurried to the door when he heard a knock. Upon opening it, his golden amber eyes met with Shadow's ruby red ones. He blushed lightly. "O-oh! Good morning, Shadow." He smiled, fiddling with the sleeve of his shirt.

"I heard a thud. Are you okay? You didn't fall out of the bed, did you?" He asked, sounding concerned. Shadow's concern touched Silver on an emotional level. He was ecstatic about the fact that Shadow cared about him.

"I'm fine, I just...dropped something." Shadow was obviously not convinced but went along with it anyways.

"Okay, as long as you're not hurt." He sighed quietly. "Hey, uh, you want pancakes? I was going to make some but I don't think it would be very nice if I made pancakes and you wanted some but I didn't make you any."

"You don't have to make me pancakes if you don't want to. I would hate to inconvenience you."

"Oh shush. It's no problem making a couple more pancakes." He smiled. "Now c'mon, let's go downstairs." Silver happily followed Shadow to the kitchen. Silver built up enough courage to grab Shadow's hand. Shadow flinched at the sudden contact, but he gave Silver's hand a gentle squeeze and looked back at him. "Grabby, aren't we?~" He purred, smirking at the albino.

"S-sorry I just..." He blushed heavily. "I know we just met but I felt like I've known you forever and..." Shadow stopped in his tracks. He gave Silver a kiss on the cheek.

"Let me guess, you love me?" He asked in a very 'sure of himself' tone. Silver struggled to responded, his blush covering the entirety of his muzzle. Shadow wrapped his arms around Silver. "We went to the same high school. I've been awaiting this day for quite awhile because I've been crushing on you since I first laid my eyes on you." Silver smiled and teared up.

"I-I love you too, Shadow." The two shared a passionate kiss.

And that was the beginning of a wonderful relationship that blossomed like a rose.
