Poth~I never meant to hurt you

Have you ever been in love with someone, only to be rejected or friendzoned? That was what happened to me. My name's Goth. I'm just your average kid, expect for the whole son of Death thing. I'm a demiGod, but that's not important right now. I had a best friend named Palette Roller. He was my only friend. It was the end of 5th grade, and I finally decided to confess my love for him.

“Palette? I have something to tell you.” Goth said calmly. He was freaking out internally, but that wasn't as important. Palette motioned him to continued. “I-I…” As Goth stared into Palette's eyes, he found the tiny bit of confidence he had crumble. Maybe this was a bad idea? He promised himself he would do this now. “I-I'm in...I'm in love with you!” Goth squeezed his eyes shut as he prepared himself for an answer. When Palette didn't respond, he opened his eyes.

“G-Goth…” Palette begun. He looked away as he fidgeted with his sleeve. “I-I'm sorry, I don't feel anything but friendship towards you.” Goth teared up and ran off. Goth suffered from depression. Ever since he met Palette, he was happier and open to his parents about how he felt. He talked to them when he needed someone to talk to. To hear Palette reject him and only want to be friends absolutely shattered his world.

Goth stopped talking to Palette. He stayed distant from Palette. Palette and Goth wanted to go to the same middle school, so Goth knew what school Palette was going to and changed schools.

Years later, Goth was starting high school. He let out a sigh as he covered his face with his hood. One of the first people he saw while walking down the hall was Palette. He stuck out like a sore thumb. Goth growled under his breath as he hastily passed Palette. Before he was too far Palette stopped him.

“Hello! My name's Palette, but you can call me Pally or Pal, whatever you prefer.” Goth looked down and pushed past him without saying a word.

This continued for weeks. Palette or some other nice person would try to make friends with Goth, and Goth wouldn't respond and would block them out or walk away.

After a few more weeks, Reaper was dropping Goth off at school later than normal because Goth broke down that morning. Goth was better, but he was still upset about the whole Palette situation. Should he forgive Palette? Palette was the reason Goth came real close to killing himself but he stopped himself as soon as he realized what he was doing. He didn't deserve to be forgiven.

“Goth, you're going to need to talk to him sooner or later. Best to get it over with.” Reaper whispered as he hugged Goth. He gave Goth a small kiss on the forehead. “Have a good day at school, sweetheart.” He smiled at Goth before walking off. Goth sighed before heading to first period. His dad was right, he sound just talk to Palette, maybe give him a good slap or two. Goth smiled menacingly.

“Yeah, that sounds like a plan!” He giggled. He pushed open the door to first period and took his seat in the back of the classroom. He blushed a little while he thought about confronting Palette. Not a lot of people called Goth by his name, so he was sure Palette didn’t know it was him. He decided to tune into the lesson, since he was sure there would be a test.

Next period was math. It was his first class of the day with Palette. Goth sat in the front, next to a girl. He wasn’t entirely covering his face so the girl pointed out his eyes.

“Woah! Your eyes look awesome! One of them is completely blank!” Her eyes sparkle a little as she spoke. Goth giggled.

“Yeah, I’m half blind. Something’s wrong with my mom’s eye, so I got that after him.” Goth smiled a little. “My dad’s eyes are completely empty. It’s a little creepy, but he can still see.” The girl gasped quietly. She mouthed ‘That sounds awesome!’ before the teacher began teaching.

Class ended a little earlier than normal, so the students had a little free time to chat. Goth worked up enough courage to head over to Palette and tap him on the shoulder. He turned around.

“Hey Goth, what’s up?” He asked with that cute little smile of his. Goth blushed lightly upon seeing Palette’s adorable face.

“Can you m-meet me after school today in the gym?” Goth asked quietly, considering he was fairly shy. Palette nodded and said a quick sure. Goth walked away, looking down at the floor.

“Wait, Goth! I was wondering if you wanted to hangout this afternoon? Unless you’re busy of course.” Palette giggled awkwardly. “We haven’t really talked or anything in a long time so I want to hangout again!” Goth paused before nodding. Palette’s stars shone brightly and he gave Goth a small ‘thank you’. Goth sighed happily as he walked away. This was the start of something new.

After school, the two were awkwardly staring at each other. They didn't realize they were getting closer till they kissed. Goth immediately pushed Palette away and backed up. “I haven't forgiven you at all, Roller, don't pull that shit on me.” Palette put up his hands in a defensive way.

“Woah woah woah, no need to get all nasty, Gothy!” Goth growled and rebuked Palette for calling him Gothy.

“Look, Palette,” He said Palette's name with so much venum that Palette looked upset. “no amount of apologizes will make up for how you shattered my heart. I'm only doing this because my dad wanted me to talk to you, despite me not wanting to.”

“Goth...I really missed you…” Palette approached Goth, who backed up. This continued till Palette pinned Goth to the wall. “I'm sorry. I was young and dumb. I didn't know or understand love. I didn't even know I was gay back then. You have to cut me a little slack, we were in fifth grade!”

“I understood love in fifth grade!” Goth retorted.

“I was shielded to spare my innocence. I didn't even know what sex was till sex ed.” Goth sighed. He hugged Palette.

“Palette? I still love you…” Goth whispered. Palette hugged back and smiled.

“I love you too, Goth.”
