Tribes

Her eyes were narrowed. A phone was held in her left hand, and the other was scrolling through names.

The names of people in the Blue Tribe.

Her red eyes darted back and forth on the page, looking for her last name.

At birth, she was taken from her parents due to her red eyes. That's how it worked. Whatever your eye color was, that was what tribe you belonged in. She had been born to a family that was blue-eyed for many years, so this occurrence was incredibly unexpected.

The Red Tribe was the smallest and most respected tribe, due to the way everyone had a say, and how they managed to be so orginanized, and people were very intellegent here.

She stopped scrolling when she saw three names:

Timothy White

Christina White

Helena White.

That was her last name, and the names sparked some memory. She clicked on Christina and looked at the number of children she had.

Two of them.

One named Helena White, who was 12, and one who was 10 but located in the Red Tribe.

The 10-year-old was named May White.

She let out a loud squeal of happiness, jumping up. She looked at the number and dialed it into the phone excitedly.

She held the phone to her ear, waiting for a response.

A woman spoke at the other end. "Hello?"

"Are you Christina White?" The young girl asked.

"Yes, why?" Responded the woman on the other end.

"I'm May White." Said the girl. Christina was silent on the other end.

"Truly." Said May after the pause.

"May, sweetie, how did you - ?" Said Christina.

"I was on the page of people in the Blue Tribe. I finally got freedom to the computer and I just wanted to talk to you so badly."

Christina laughed, and another voice was heard on the other end.

"May, I have to go. Can I call you back?" Asked Christina.

"Yes. Thank you, Mom." Said May as her mother hung up.

At birth, May had been taken from her family and never saw them, nor knew their names, and never had any contact with them whatsoever.

As May slept, the Red Tribe's greatest hero had fallen. A young male who had the ability to manipulate fire. This gift had been passed down from person to person in the red tribe for many years.

The male had no kin to share the ability with, so his spirit searched for a person to use this wisely.

And he stopped over May, sensing that she was the perfect person for the job. He set down the suit - a black long sleeves shirt, black pants, flame patterned gloves and boots, and a hood with a mask to hide her face and hair, and it also altered her voice. She should keep hidden.

The suit was also fireproof, making it easier to hide.

He took a deep breath and dove into her, passing in both memories of the past and the new gift.

May sat up, thinking about her dreams. They had been strangely realistic, like they were memories. But not hers, because she had no recollection of this happening to her.

She stood up, and looked over at her bedside. She ghasped.

The suit from her dreams.

An instinct told her to put it on,and she did as it said. It shrunk somehow to fit her size, and she admired the flame patterns on her feet and hands.

She went and climbed out the window, sitting on the roof. She recognized the suit.

Then she realized.

It was the suit of the person who could manipulate fire.

The Red Tribe's hero.

Did she hold the memories of the past? Is that her dreams?

Yes.

She stood up, sensing something was wrong. She jumped from rooftop to rooftop, using the skills of her past selves. She stopped near a building on fire, screams of people trapped inside sounded.

Move the fire into a ball, and put it above the building. Said a males voice. May nodded and held up her hands, willing the fire to raise up. She made it avoid all forms of life as it rose, compacting into a ball a few feet above the building.

Then a memory of doing this before flashed through her mind, and she moved it to where Firemen could extinguish it.

Then eyes traveled to her, as the fireball hissed and faded away. They knew it was the new hero. The next generation.

"Hey! Come here!" Shouted a voice. Do it. Said the male from earlier.

She jumped off of her building, landing gracefully and slowly walking towards the person who had called for her.

"Are you the new "Fire"?" Asked a fireman. May nodded slowly.

The fireman nodded, and smiled. "Thanks." He said. May smiled also, knowing he couldn't see her face.

"I hope to see you in the future." He said.

"Same goes for you." Said May, and she climbed up the building before jumping back to her home.

Autumn looked up, her black suit with water-like-hands and feet helping her disguise herself in the shadows.

The new Fire was here.

She slowly climbed up a building, eyes scanning the landscape for any signs of life. She could tell easily, due to the fact that a large portion of the human body was water.

Autumn began to leak towards the border between the Blue Tribe and the  Red Tribe, her blue eyes sparkled with excitement.

She jumped over the wall, and kept going from building to building quickly. She saw another black figure with firey hands and feet. It was small, Autumn noticed as she got closer. The figure heard her footsteps and stopped, turning around to face Autumn, who skidded to a halt.

"I am River of the Blue Tribe." Said Autumn. The other figure was silent for a bit, but then said "I am Fire, of the Red Tribe."

It was a young female.

May was shocked at the fact that there were others. And that this River was trespassing.

"I was close friends with the last Fire. I presume he speaks to you?" Said Autumn. May nodded.

"Yes. He said Hello, and -" May laughed softly. "I think he liked you."

Autumn laughed also.

But then May became serious. "Though I am concerned about the fact that you are trespassing within Red territory. That's Fire's job, not yours." She said. This caused Autumn to laugh harder.

"Well, I shall see you later then." Said Autumn, before going back before she was sighted. May smiled.
